DR. MOHD USMAN BIN MOHD JUNAIDI

Dr. Mohd Usman Bin Mohd Junaidi has been a dedicated researcher and senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia, since 2016. He earned his BEng in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in 2012, followed by a Ph.D. from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2016.  In his academic role, Dr. Mohd Usman imparts knowledge across a spectrum of chemical engineering disciplines. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses such as Thermodynamics, Mass Transfer, Physical and Analytical Chemistry, and Fluid Mechanics. Through these subjects, he emphasizes the integration of theoretical principles with practical applications, preparing students to tackle complex engineering challenges. Beyond his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Mohd Usman served as the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs at the Faculty of Engineering, UM, from January 2022 until December 2024. In this administrative capacity, he plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience, addressing student concerns, and fostering a supportive academic environment. Dr. Mohd Usman's research interests are centered on gas separation and purification, advanced material development, and green technology. He has contributed to the field through numerous publications in ISI-indexed journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing chemical engineering knowledge. Beyond his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Mohd Usman is actively involved in the academic community. He has collaborated with various experts, contributing to the advancement of chemical engineering. Dr. Mohd Usman's dedication to chemical engineering is evident in his comprehensive approach to education and research. DR. MUHAMMAD SAFWAN BIN HARUN

Muhammad Safwan Harun is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fiqh and Usul, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Born and raised in Selama, Perak, his academic journey began at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Jalan Menteri, followed by secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Kerian, Semanggol, before furthering his studies at Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gopeng, Perak. His passion for Islamic jurisprudence led him to Universiti Malaya, Nilam Puri, where he completed a two-year foundation program before progressing to a Bachelor's degree in Fiqh and Usul at the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. He graduated with distinction in 2016 and later pursued his Doctorate at the same institution, earning his PhD in November 2019. Coming from a humble yet academically driven background, Muhammad Safwan is the third son of Harun bin Mohd Nor and Zainab bt Mohd Nasir. He is also a devoted husband to Nazratun Naimah binti Jahuri and a proud father to Nur Sumayyah, Mohd Shakir, and Muhammad Shatir. As a scholar, his expertise lies in Maqasid al-Shari‘ah both in its theoretical and applied dimensions as well as Usul al-Fiqh. Over the years, he has been an active contributor to academic discourse through numerous journal articles, book chapters, and newspaper columns, while also presenting at both national and international conferences. As of June 2025, he has published approximately 110 scholarly works. His research interests span various facets of contemporary fiqh, including worship, ethics, zakat, and mu‘amalat. Beyond research and publication, Muhammad Safwan has played a key role in securing and managing 19 research grants from various funding bodies, including the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), and the Faculty Research Grant (GPF), among others. His expertise is widely sought after, and he has been actively involved as a consultant in several major projects, including the development of the Shariah Glossary (I-Sign) for the Hearing-Impaired under the Institut Latihan Islam, Bangi, as well as the construction of the Modul Minda Maqasid, initiated by the Maqasid Shariah Division, JAKIM. An advocate for knowledge dissemination, Muhammad Safwan frequently delivers lectures and training sessions on Maqasid al-Shari‘ah, engaging with civil servants, academics, and students at public universities. His dedication to scholarly excellence is further reflected in his international engagements, where he serves as an editorial board member for prestigious publications such as the Journal of Religious, Social, and Cultural Studies and the Khazanah Journal of Islamic Education. Through these roles, he continues to contribute to the advancement of Islamic scholarship at both national and global levels.

DR. MOHD SHAHRIL NIZAM BIN SHAHAROM

Sarel developed an interest in e-learning in 2004 when he volunteered as a participant in a public university’s e-learning project. Leveraging his background in software engineering—a bachelor's degree in computer science with a major in software engineering—he began exploring the design and integration of e-learning with educational concepts and technical functionalities to enhance student learning opportunities. His first official e-learning initiative, diskusiMAYA (accessible at www.diskusimaya.com), was primarily designed to support his part-time students since 2006. Additionally, he conceptualized and developed an innovative e-learning environment tailored for selected teachers as part of the MAYA project, accessible via maya.ilusikreatif.com and maya.sorient.my. His approach incorporates diverse instructional design strategies, including online learning environments and blended learning methods, to sustain student engagement in the learning process. Sarel has also contributed to the development of a virtual learning environment platform for a private university, focusing on how virtual environments function as collaborative spaces to enhance students’ learning experiences. Now, he emphasizes the importance of experience in practicing digital skills in education as a transition to AI Literacy. At the same time, he is an AI trainer in/for education who has produced several GPTs under the Scholar AI Project such as 'Scholar Proposal Mentor', 'Scholar Bloom's Digital Taxonomy', Scholar Intelligence Report, or 'Scholar UM Expert'. According to him, every engagement provided by the community (either lecturers or students) in the online environment is about building up motivation.
