PROF. DR. IDA NORMIHA BINTI HILMI

  Ida HILMI is a Professor and Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prof Ida Hilmi graduated with first-class honours from the University of Glasgow in 1997. She went on to do her training in internal medicine in Oxford and obtained her Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) in 2000. She then joined the Northeast London Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist program before returning to Malaysia in 2003. She is the current Chair of the National Hepatology and Gastroenterology Training Committee and the President for the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the President for the Malaysian Society for IBD. Her other positions include Honorary Secretary for the Asian Education Network in IBD (IBD-AEN), Board member of the Asian Organization for Crohn’s and Colitis (AOCC) and the Malaysian lead for the IBD Emerging Nations Consortium (IBD-ENC). Her past positions include Head of the Department of Medicine, Head of Division in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Director of Endoscopy in University of Malaya. She is currently a trustee for the Journal of Hepatology and Gastroenterology Foundation which is involved in medical research, education and training in gastroenterology and hepatology within the Asia-Pacific region. In terms of colorectal cancer screening, she is part of  the Rebung project which is involved in increasing awareness for the commonest cancers in Malaysia as well as improving access to screening and care, particularly in the lower income group. Professor Hilmi’s main area of interest is inlfammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer screening.

DR. HAZWAN ARIFF BIN HAKIMI

Dr. Hazwan Ariff Hakimi is a poetic architect and academic whose career bridges architectural history, theory, and practice. With a PhD in Architecture (Graduate on Time with Excellent Thesis) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Master of Arts in Architectural History (Distinction) from The Bartlett, University College London (UCL), he embodies a rare synthesis of professional rigour and scholarly depth. His research delves into architectural historiographies, postcolonial theories, and the Islamisation of architecture in the Malay-Indonesian Archipelago. His scholarly works, including refereed journal articles and book chapters, have been widely recognised, earning him prestigious awards such as the UKM Excellent Thesis Award and the International Conference on Regional Architecture and Built Environment (seniBINA) Gold Award. Dr. Hazwan's interdisciplinary approach enriches the discourse on the intersection of traditional and modern architecture, literature, and philosophy. As a design architect, he has contributed to landmark projects such as the Rica Residence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the City International Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He fosters critical thinking and innovative design in academia through courses like Architectural Theory and Philosophy, encouraging students to connect theoretical constructs with practical applications. Dr. Hazwan's dedication extends beyond the classroom. He is a registered member of professional bodies, including the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA), actively contributing to architectural and cultural dialogues. His editorial roles and jury appointments reflect his commitment to advancing the field and nurturing emerging talents. An advocate for collaboration, Dr. Hazwan invites potential research partners and postgraduate students to join him in exploring the nuanced narratives of architecture and its cultural contexts. His vision lies in integrating theoretical frameworks with sustainable practices to address contemporary urban challenges, shaping a built environment rooted in history yet responsive to the future.

PROF. DR. CHUAH CHIN TIK

Professor Jason Chuah FRSA SFHEA holds the Chair of Commercial and Maritime Law at the City Law School, UK. He has recently been appointed as a Dean of Faculty of Law at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He was the holder of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Award, Barclays Bank Scholarship and the Cambridge Commonwealth Fellowship at Cambridge University. His PhD looked at the influence of the need for commercial certainty on the judicial development of commercial and maritime law. He also has a Professional Certificate in Export with Distinction from the UK Institute of Export. He holds a First Class Hons degree in Law from the University of Malaya. He has written thirteen books and well over 200 articles. He is editor of several international journals, including the Journal of International Maritime Law, International Company and Commercial Law Review, International Trade Law and Regulation, Shipping & Trade Law, International Transport Law Review, and Finance & Credit Law. He has served on research councils in the UK, South Africa, Poland, Canada and Colombia. His work has been cited by institutions in the UK, US, EU and Asia. He is also Executive Director of the London Universities Maritime Law and Policy Group. He has been involved in various consultations with the Ministry of Justice, the OECD, the ICC, the Association of British Insurers, the UNCITRAL, etc.
