Professor Dr Wan Himratul Aznita Wan Harun is a passionate oral microbiologist. Since year 2000, she has served as an academic staff at the Department of Oral & Craniofacial Sciences and is currently the Deputy Dean of Value Creation and Enterprise, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya. She is a member of the Malaysian Section International Association for Dental Research (MalSec-IADR), Malaysian Society for Microbiologist (MSM) and Malaysian Society for Oral Microbiologist and Oral Immunologist (MySOMOI). Her research interest includes microbial virulence, oral biofilms, polymicrobial interactions, microbiomes, and medicinal plant extracts. She was awarded the Hitachi Fellowship Award in 2009 and flew to Japan to conduct research on the virulence of oral microorganisms. She publishes articles actively in ISI and Scopus journals and has experienced in supervising many PhD and Masters research for both local and international students including undergraduate elective projects. Throughout her service, she has secured various grants, including Fundamental Research Grants Scheme (FRGS), Ministry of Higher Education-High Impact Research Grants (MOHE-HIR), etc.
show more »Dr. Siow Pei Yi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Her research focuses on hybrid modal-machine learning damage diagnosis methods and digital twins for structural health monitoring. Research interests are structural health monitoring, machine learning, vibration, modal analysis, virtual instrumentation, computational mechanics, and signal processing. She is registered as a Graduate Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). She has also been actively involved in industrial projects on structural and machinery vibration at semiconductor and on-shore oil, gas and petrochemical processing plants in Malaysia since 2019.
show more »Dr Makmor Tumin is a Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science, Public Administration and Development Studies, specializing in Political Philosophy (Islam and the West). His current research interest is on patriotism and human rights in Islam. Having served under Universiti Malaya since 1997, there are 55 books credited under his name. Several selected published books of his include Essentials of Theology and Muslim Political Philosophy, Western Political and Economic Thought, Contemporary Western Political Philosophy: Figures and Metaphysics, Contemporary Islamic Political Thought: Syariah and Philosophical Leaning (co-editor) and Civil Society in Malaysia: Issues and Challenges (edited), all of which are in Malay. Dr. Makmor is blind. His eyesight began to deteriorate at the age of 11, and at 45, he became completely blind. He is currently serving as an Executive Board member of the ASEAN University Network - Disability and Public Policy (AUN-DPPnet) and the Chief Editor for a People with Disabilities (PwDs) Magazine ("Mainstreamer") which is funded by the Nippon Foundation under AUN-DPPnet.
