Dr. Gareth Sim Maw Shin is a senior lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Life Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya. He joined in 2017 after completing his PhD in Medical Science at the same university, following a three-year SLAI fellowship under the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Teaching & SupervisionDr. Gareth coordinates and delivers key undergraduate courses, including Basic Immunology, Pharmacotherapy for Psychiatric & Neurological Disorders, and Smoking Cessation Programmes. He has supervised 9 PhD and 6 Master’s students to date, with 3 PhD and 1 Master’s graduate successfully completed. Research ExcellenceHis research focuses on behavioural science, genetic epidemiology, and psycho- & neuro-pharmacogenomics, with applications in drug abuse, smoking, psychiatric disorders, and ageing. He leads a project on pharmacogenomics of amphetamine-type stimulants and opioid dependence in Malaysia.He has published over 30 international journal articles and 7 conference proceedings, including in Tier 1 journals such as Brain Research, BBA – General Subjects, Biogerontology, The Pharmacogenomics Journal, and Toxicology. His work advances precision medicine, addiction pharmacotherapy, and public health policy. Future DirectionsDr. Gareth plans to integrate next-generation sequencing (NGS) and AI models into pharmacogenomics and to pioneer research in ageing genomics and the pharmacogenomics of anti-ageing, addressing the global challenge of healthy longevity. show more »Dr. Ho Hui Ling is a Associate Professor in the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She received her Ph.D. from University of Malaya in 2003. Dr. Ho’s specialization is the History of Malaysia from the colonial period to modern period. She has conducted numerous studies on the history of Emergency era and communist movements in Malaya/Malaysia, socioeconomic development in Malaysia, ethnic relations and the development of plural societies in Malaysia, as well as various aspects of the history of Sarawak and Sabah. The findings of her research have been published in the form of books, chapters in books, journal articles and also contained in research reports and conference papers. Dr. Ho was also appointed as a panel of reference experts on secondary and primary school’s History curriculum and textbook by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia/KPM) for 2017-2022 and 2023-2027. She was also involved in reviewing History textbooks for secondary and primary school published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).
show more »Dr. Kamisah Ismail is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Malaya. Her primary research interests lie in Management Accounting and Control Systems, reflecting a strong integration of academic rigor and practical relevance. Before joining academia, Dr. Kamisah gained extensive professional experience in various private-sector organizations, where she was involved in a wide range of accounting and financial management roles. This industrial background continues to enrich her teaching, particularly in Management Accounting and the Integrated Case Study course, where she emphasizes the practical application of theoretical concepts. Dr. Kamisah has published her research in several reputable international journals, including those indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. She is currently serving as the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor in Accounting programme at the Universiti Malaya, where she plays a pivotal role in academic leadership and curriculum development. A Chartered Accountant and member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Dr. Kamisah has been appointed as a Council Member of MIA since April 2023. In this capacity, she actively contributes to the profession’s governance and development through her service on both the Disciplinary Committee and the Examination Committee of the Institute.
