Hazreena Hussein has over 25 years of progressive teaching and research experience at the Universiti Malaya. Her research interests are Person-Environment interactions, inclusive access to outdoor environments and Multisensory stimulation environments. Her doctoral work focuses on accessible design to the use of sensory gardens, particularly by children with special educational needs. She has been the Principal Investigator for several projects: 'Urban Park Characteristics in integrating mental health comorbid with non-communicable diseases through salivary cortisol pattern and spatial analysis' (2019-2022)', `Landscape Identity of Cameron Highlands Hill Station: Soundscape`(2013-2017) and `Enhancing wellbeing through recreational and sensory therapy in landscape design`(2014-2017). Hazreena has been granted seed money from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) on `The Physiological Responses to Therapeutic Sensory Stimulation Garden: A pilot study (2016-2017). Her work was awarded the Best Paper at the AicE-Bs Conference in London (2013). Other recognitions awarded by UM, include The Distinguish Service Award (2012), PhD completion period less than 4 years (2010) and Excellent Service Award (2005, 2014 & 2020). Since 2012, she has served on the Editorial Board of Asian Journal of Environment-Behaviour Studies and the Journal of Asian Behavioural Studies. show more »Dr. Nurin Wahidah binti Mohd Zulkifli is an esteemed Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She holds a distinguished academic background, having earned her Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, followed by a Master’s degree (MSc.Eng) from Monash University, Australia, and a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Tribology from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Dr. Zulkifli's expertise lies in combustion and fuel engineering (tribology), which is reflected in her impressive scholarly contributions. With a remarkable publication record of 112 research articles in both national and international journals, she has garnered 3868 citations and an H-index of 38. Furthermore, she has exhibited exemplary mentorship by successfully supervising several PhD and master students from various countries. Her significant impact in the field was recognized in 2020 when she was acknowledged for ranking among the top 2% of researchers for the most cited documents in engineering by Web of Science and Clarivate Analytics. Dr. Zulkifli has also played a pivotal role in securing and managing numerous grant projects as the head of internal and external grants. Notably, she is an active collaborator, forging partnerships with researchers in the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia for grants, joint research efforts, and paper writing. Her collaborative endeavors extend to esteemed organizations such as PROTON, PETRONAS Research, DUCOM, MPOB, and researchers from local universities.
show more »Dr. Mumtaz Aini Alivi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) with a double major in (i) Language and Malay Linguistics and (ii) Journalism from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She later obtained her Master of Corporate Communication and Doctor of Philosophy (Mass Communication) from the same university. Her research interests primarily focus on Journalism, Broadcasting, News, Online Media, Political Communication, and Mass Communication. Apart from her academic qualifications, Dr. Mumtaz has extensive experience in journalism, news broadcasting, and media industry management. She was a media practitioner for twenty-two years at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), a government television station. For almost twenty years, she was attached to the News and Current Affairs Department, where she held multiple roles, including Broadcast Journalist, Newscaster, News Editor, and News Producer. Throughout her career, she was involved in various high-profile assignments, including accompanying the Prime Minister and other national leaders for international news coverage, conducting live news broadcasts from Parliament, and reporting on other significant national events, in addition to daily news coverage. After completing her PhD, Dr. Mumtaz transitioned to a different role at RTM, serving as Assistant Director in the Policy and Research Section. She later assumed the same role in the Strategic Planning Section before being transferred to the Quality Control for Creative Content Unit as an Evaluation Officer. These three divisions operate under the Strategic Development Department, where she contributed for an additional two years before leaving RTM. With over two decades of experience in the media industry—particularly in television news, along with some experience in radio and media management—Dr. Mumtaz has made significant contributions to the field. Her dedication and passion for journalism were recognized when she won the Best Broadcast Journalist Award at the national level in 2001. In addition to her industry experience, Dr. Mumtaz has been appointed by several organizations for various consultancy and evaluation roles. She has served as a panel judge for the prestigious Malaysian Journalism Award, organized by the Malaysia Press Institute (MPI). She was also a panel member for Pitching Evaluation (Private) and a panel member for Screening (Syndicated) for RTM programs. In 2021, Dr. Mumtaz transitioned from media practice to academia, joining the University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer. She embraced this new career path with a bigger mission—to contribute to nation-building by sharing her knowledge and experience to shape future leaders in journalism and media.
