Prior to joining the academia, Dr Norazlin was in the unit trust industry with experiences in legal & compliance, marketing & business development, and project management. She obtained her Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia, Master of Economics from the University Malaya and later completed her PhD in Accounting & Finance at the University of Glasgow. In her doctoral research, she focuses on Islamic finance combining the components of Islamic capital market, political economy, social theories, and linguistic analysis.

This is indicative of her research interests in Islamic finance from a policymaking perspective, Islamic capital market, the future direction of corporate sustainability, and ESG as well as the sentiment analysis underlying various forms of business communications. Current development in Malaysia's carbon market also draws her attention to be examined further.
