Dr. Shani Ann Mani is a paediatric dentist and academic with more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, in 1995, followed by a Master of Dental Surgery in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Panjab University), Chandigarh, in 1998. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Dr. Shani has been a key member of the Faculty of Dentistry at Universiti Malaya, where she has served as the Postgraduate Coordinator for Paediatric Dentistry since 2014. She has extensive experience as both an internal and external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
An active researcher, Dr. Shani has authored around 40 publications in national and international peer‑reviewed journals, many indexed in the ISI Web of Science database, and has contributed chapters to academic books. She has secured multiple research grants in paediatric dentistry and is regularly invited to review manuscripts for international journals. She serves on the editorial boards of the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry, the Malaysian Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, and BMC Oral Health.
She is a member of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Dentistry, and several other professional and academic organisations.
