Professor Dr Wan Nurazreena Wan Hassan is a Senior Consultant Orthodontist at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, whose scholarship bridges digital dentistry with outcomes science in orthodontics. She is a subject-matter expert in Orthodontic-related quality of life (psychometrics as applied to malocclusion), treatment need, and patient-centred outcomes. Her leadership in dental education is demonstrated through pivotal roles as Deputy Dean (Postgraduate), previously Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) and Head of Department (cum Year 5 Leader, BDS), and Coordinator of the Orthodontic Postgraduate Programme, where she has led curriculum design and quality, assessment reform, and learner outcomes. Clinically, she integrates UK training (Cardiff, Wales) with a mini-preceptorship in Korea and a mini-residency in Japan to manage complex orthodontic cases, including cleft and craniofacial care, orthognathic surgery pathways, and obstructive sleep apnoea, translating multi-country best practices into Malaysian settings.
Nationally, she serves on the Dental Specialist Evaluation Committee (DSEC) of the Malaysian Dental Council and contributes to evidence-based care, including the Clinical Practice Guidelines on Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and guidelines in orthodontics. Internationally, she is an Examiner (MOrth Part II and MFDS) for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Her academic influence includes an H-index of 12 (Web of Science) and 352 citations.
