Joined the Faculty of Dentistry Universiti Malaya as a Tutor in 1996, completed Ph.D. in 2004, and has since, became a teaching academic in the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences until her retirement in mid-June 2022.

Throughout her career, Prof Fathilah has served the faculty as the Deputy Dean (Development & Human Resource), Head of the department, Head of Auditor, as well as Adjunct and Visiting Professor at UNAIR Surabaya and UNPAD Bandung, Indonesia. She has also been appointed as External Examiners and Program Reviewer for the Oral Biology discipline, and examiner for Master and Doctorate thesis in UM and various universities in Malaysia.

Prof Fathilah’s current research interest revolves around the oral environment that includes the oral biofilm, saliva, oral microbes, oral mucosa, and the interaction of these factors with various components that are exposed to the oral ecosystem.

Now Prof Fathilah is still with UM, serving as an Honorary Prof until June 2025.
