RAHIZAR RAMLI is an Associate Professor, currently serving the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Universiti Malaya. He received his B.Sc. (Mechanical) at the University of Hartford, U.S.A. in 1992. Since then, he worked as a Technical Service engineer in the area of vibration, and condition monitoring throughout Southeast Asia. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Malaya and was awarded with Masters (M.Eng.Sc.) degree in 1999 specializing in Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) for automotive applications. In 2007, he obtained his Ph.D., at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, United Kingdom specializing in computational mechanics involving vehicle dynamic modelling and simulation, semi-active control systems, and durability analysis for advanced vehicle suspension systems. His current research interests include experimental and computational mechanics focusing on vehicle dynamics and safety, vibration and acoustics, condition monitoring, and structural dynamics. He has produced a significant number of technical reports and has published more than 70 journal articles in the related area. He has produced a significant number of technical reports and has published more than 60 journal articles in the related area. He has supervised a total of 31 postgraduates, in which 26 (12 Ph.D. and 14 Masters) have graduated, whilst 5 postgraduates (3 Ph.D. and 2 Masters) are in progress. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Board of Engineers Malaysia), and the Lead Trainer for the Vibration Practitioner/Specialist Certification Programmes Based on ISO18436. He is also the steering committee member for the Malaysian Structural Integrity Society (MSIS). He received more than RM2 millions (USD 450,000.00) of research grants from various sources (internal, external, industries, and international) as a Project Leader. He has received several awards (national and international), and patents for his research innovations. He is currently appointed as the national panel for grant evaluation at the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), and for the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI). |
