Associate Professor Dr. Raja Ariffin Raja Ghazilla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya, with expertise in sustainable and circular design, sustainable manufacturing, human-centred engineering, ergonomics and smart manufacturing. He holds a PhD in Manufacturing Design, a Master of Engineering Science in Computer Aided Ergonomics, and a Bachelor’s degree in CAD/CAM Engineering from Universiti Malaya.

Dr. Raja Ariffin has extensive experience in academic leadership, research management and engineering education. He has served as Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Deputy Dean of Development at the Faculty of Engineering, contributing to academic programme development, curriculum planning and faculty strategic initiatives. He has also held leadership positions in research and innovation, including Head of the Centre for Sustainable and Smart Manufacturing (CSSM) and Head of the UM Aerospace Innovation Centre, where he has led multidisciplinary research, developed research capabilities and strengthened collaboration with industry and academic partners.

His research focuses on circular economy and product recovery, sustainable product development, human–robot collaboration, ergonomics, augmented operators and smart manufacturing technologies. He has led and contributed to multidisciplinary research projects, postgraduate supervision, research grant management and industry collaborations, with a strong emphasis on translating research into practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
