I’m Rizal, a Senior Lecturer and the current Head of the Building Surveying Department from the faculty. My teaching and research explore asset maintenance, facility management, workplace wellbeing, and how our built environment can better serve the people who use them.
My work includes peer-reviewed research, industry projects, technical contributions, and professional engagement. I enjoy connecting research, practice, and people through my involvement with RISM, RICS, IFMA, CIDB, MAFM, and ISO/TC 267.
Away from work, I find my best reset walking through nature, and simply enjoying some quiet time outdoors. Perhaps that is also why I appreciate the relationship between the built environment and the natural world; both have a way of reminding us to look at the bigger picture.
