Rizal is a Senior Lecturer in the Building Surveying Department, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya; with recognised Area of Expertise in Facilities Management and Asset Maintenance. His scholarly focus centres on asset lifecycle performance, facilities management governance, sustainable workplace and facilities operations, and environmental and institutional waste management, with a particular emphasis on system based approach. He obtained his academic training in the built environment discipline and has produced peer-reviewed journal publications, technical reports, and book chapters. His research outputs are indexed in WoS–Scopus,with h-index of 7, reflecting sustained scholarly impact in facilities and asset management. Rizal has led competitive research grants and contributed to national and international projects, particularly in facilities management systems, institutional sustainability frameworks, and public–private sector facilities governance. He demonstrates academic leadership and professional standing through representation of Universiti Malaya in Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), the Malaysian Association of Facility Management as active committee and Deputy Secretary 2025-2026, the National Mirror Committee, and ISO/TC 267 working groups, contributing to the development and revisions of international facility management standards. |
