DR. ONG TZE CHIN

Dr. Ong Tze Chin received her PhD and LLM from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) under the scholarship of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Prior to her academic career, she was a practicing lawyer in litigation after obtaining her LLB(Hons) Degree from University of Northumbria, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. She was called to the UK Bar as Barrister-at-Law by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2005 and Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2007. She started her academic career in 2010 and has been actively involved in teaching and research. She is a passionate researcher and has been actively involved in many research writings and projects. She has published over 20 publications both national and internationally including journal articles, chapters in books and proceedings. She specialises in consumer protection law, comparative legal research, contract law, law of remedies, sale of goods and alternative dispute resolution. Her research area is in consumer protection law, particularly in the current consumer issues related to e-commerce and competition law. She is currently the project leader for FRGS research project of "A Framework for Competition Law on Digital Market of E-commerce Platforms in Malaysia." She completed 2019 FRGS research project on building guidelines for avoidance of fraudulent online sale for consumer protection. She had been involved in competition law research project funded by Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) and successfully completed the research project on Behavioural Insights of Voluntary Tax Compliance of Malaysian E-commerce funded by Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN). She also consulted on the OPSS UK Product Safety Review: Call for Evidence Response of the Product Liability Forum in 2021 on issues related to product safety on IoT. Her recent consultation projects include ASEAN Guidelines on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce and ASEAN Guidelines on Unfair Contract Terms of Consumer Protection in ASEAN (PROTECT I) and (PROTECT II) project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. She is also the consultant for KK IT Research Art, Japan on the research project awarded by Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) on laws and regulations in Malaysia common to IoT products.

DR. NARSIMLU KEMSARAM

Dr. Narsimlu Kemsaram is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD in Computer Science. During his PhD, he worked as an Assistant Researcher with the Department of Computer Science at the Julius Maximilian University, Würzburg, Germany, on the research project of "An Autonomous Sensor Network for the Detection and Observation of Meteors (ASMET)," funded by the European Union-Regional Development Fund (EU-RDF). After his PhD, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Mobile Perception Systems (MPS) Research Lab, Signal Processing Systems Research Group, at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Eindhoven, Netherlands, on the research project of "integrated Cooperative Automated Vehicles (i-CAVE): Sensing, Mapping, and Localization," funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). Later, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Space Robotics (SpaceR) Research Group, SnT Research Centre, at the University of Luxembourg, Kirchberg Campus, Luxembourg, on the research projects of "Secure and Safe Multi-Robot Systems (SESAME)," funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 (EU-H2020), and "5G-Sky: Interconnecting the Sky in 5G and Beyond – A Joint Communication and Control Approach," funded by the Luxembourg National Research Fund CORE (FNR-CORE). Later, he worked as a Research Fellow in Multi-Robot Systems with the Department of Computer Science at the University College London (UCL), London, United Kingdom, on the research project of "Swarm Spatial Sound Modulators (Swarm SSMs)," funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Prosperity Partnership and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Research Interests: Robotics, Swarm Robotics, UAVs, Autonomous Systems, and AI.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NURSHAMIMI BTE NOR RASHID

Dr. Nurshamimi was awarded a Malaysia-Imperial Doctoral Programme to study HPV regulation at the Department of Virology, St. Mary’s Campus, Imperial College London, upon graduating with an M.Med.Sc from the University of Malaya in 2008. She joined the Department of Molecular Medicine as a Senior Lecturer in 2014 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. She was a three-time travel award winner for attending HKU-Pasteur workshops at the University of Hong Kong. She also received travel awards from the International Papillomavirus Society in 2017 for the HPV conference in South Africa and a travel award from the EMBL Advanced Training Centre Corporate Partnership Program Fellowship in 2015 for the EMBO Conference in Heidelberg, Germany. She is also a member of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and the European Society for Virology. In 2020, she won the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Young Investigator Award for her work on the Chikungunya virus, and in 2022, she received a travel award from Keystone Symposia, Global Health Travel Award, USA. In 2024, she was selected by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, USA, to present her work entitled "Morindone from Morinda citrifolia—A promising agent targeting DNA replication and key mutations in colorectal cancer" at their conference 'Mechanisms and Models of Cancer'. Dr. Nurshamimi also holds several patents in the field of anti-aging and colorectal cancer. Her current research is geared toward phase 1 clinical trials for diabetic foot ulcer treatment and investigating potential leads for colorectal cancer targets. She is an Ambassador for Bentham Science Publisher, one of the most renowned ISI publishers in the world. Currently, she is a principal investigator for research projects on colorectal cancer, Zika and dengue viruses, anti-aging, and diabetic foot ulcers.
