Wenn-Chyau Lee received his BSc (Hons) degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Malaya, Malaysia in year 2011, and graduated with his PhD in Medical Sciences from University of Malaya in year 2014. Subsequently, he joined Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN, A*STAR) as a research fellow in Laurent Renia’s Laboratory. He was appointed as SIgN fellow after receiving OF-YIRG grant awarded by the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) of Singapore in year 2018. He joined the newly formed A*STAR ID Labs as an investigator in year 2021. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya as a senior lecturer. Currently, he is also an adjunct investigator in A*STAR ID Labs, Singapore. As a parasitologist, he has involved in studies encompassing a number of medically important parasites such as the malaria causative agent Plasmodium spp., Toxoplasma gondii that can cause birth defects, Brugia pahangi that can cause symptomatic zoonotic filariasis, as well as several medically important vectors. His main research interest revolves around the immuno-pathobiology of malaria. He has been investigating and deciphering the roles of rosetting (a phenomenon where a Plasmodium-infected red blood cell is stably adhered to uninfected red blood cells, forming a flower-like structure called ‘rosette’) in the pathogenesis of malaria. Besides, he is looking into the potential of applying biocontrol strategy to eliminate different vector borne diseases. He has worked as a research fieldworker in different places including the Thai-Burmese Border, China, peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo. As different laboratory settings are equipped differently, he enjoys adapting and improvising facilities available in the field sites to conduct experiments. Currently, he is also the facility coordinator of the insectary and arthropod containment level 2 (ACL2) research unit in the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. To date, he has published (as first/ corresponding author) in a number of reputable journals such as Blood, EBioMedicine, eLife, Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Trends in Parasitology. Besides working as a reviewer for many scientific journals and grant evaluation committees, he is also an editorial board member of Frontiers in Microbiology.

Prof Sanjiv Mahadeva is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and the previous Head of the Department of Medicine (2014 - 2019), University Malaya. He underwent his basic undergraduate and postgraduate medical training in the UK, and subsequently completed his sub-speciality training in Gastroenterology in the Yorkshire Deanery, UK. After joining the Faculty of Medicine in 2003, he pursued research in the area of Functional GI disorders and obtained a Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Leeds, UK in 2009. Despite a busy clinical practice and heavy training commitments, he has actively contributed to research with over 200 scientific peer-reviewed publications in international journals, 9419 citations and a H-index of 49 (Google Scholar). He currently serves as Associate and Academic Editor for several international journals and has been ranked “top 2% scientists in the world” by Stanford University in 2022 & 2023 .

ADIL Johan is Deputy Executive Director (Academic and Student Affairs) at the Asia-Europe Institute and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya (UM). His research on music and popular culture considers interculturalism, cosmopolitanism, intimacy, affect and gender, focussing on the Malay world and Southeast Asia. He is author of Cosmopolitan Intimacies, a book on Independence-era Malay film music (NUS Press, 2018) and is co-editor of Made in Nusantara: Studies in popular music (Routledge, 2021). He has also published articles in the Journal of Intercultural Studies (2019); Kajian Malaysia (2019); JATI-Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (2022), Indonesia and the Malay World (2023) and Popular Music and Society (2025). He is currently the elected Chair for the Southeast Asian branch for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM-SEA). ADIL Johan ialah Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif (Akademik dan Hal Ehwal Pelajar) di Institut Asia-Eropah dan pensyarah kanan di Fakulti Seni Kreatif, Universiti Malaya (UM). Kajiannya mengenai muzik dan budaya popular mempertimbangkan antara budaya, kosmopolitanisme, keintiman, pengaruh dan jantina, memfokuskan kepada alam Melayu dan Asia Tenggara. Beliau adalah pengarang Cosmopolitan Intimacies, sebuah buku mengenai muzik filem Melayu era Kemerdekaan (NUS Press, 2018) dan merupakan penyunting bersama buku Made in Nusantara: Studies in popular music (Routledge, 2021). Beliau juga telah menerbitkan artikel dalam Journal of Intercultural Studies (2019); Kajian Malaysia (2019); JATI-Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (2022), Indonesia and the Malay World (2023) dan Muzik dan Popular Music and Society (2025).
