Kiran Kaur (Ph.D., University of Malaya), is a Professor at the Department of Library & Information Science, Faculty of Arts & Social Science, Universiti Malaya. Prof. Kiran was previously the Director of the Quality Management & Enhancement Center (QMEC) responsible for accreditation and quality assurance of all levels of academic programmes in Universiti Malaya. She has had 20 years of experience in quality management systems and academic quality assurance. Prof. Kiran obtained both her Masters in Library and Information Science (1998) and PhD (2011) degree from the University of Malaya. Her research interests include information services, service quality, quality management, academic librarianship, social networking, community information services, social capital and scientometrics. Prof. Kiran's research publications appear in Journal of the Association for Information Science & Technology, Malaysian Journal of Library & Information Science, Library & Information Science Research, Journal of Computer Assisted Learning, Scientometrics, Information Development, The Electronic Library, Libri, JoLIS, Library Review, Library Management and others. Prof. Kiran is the Co-Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Library & Information Science, which is indexed in both Social Science Citation Index and Scopus. She has served as the President of the Malaysian Chapter for International Library and Information Science Society (ILISS) and an active member of the Consortium of iSchools in Asia-Pacific (CiSAP). Prof. Kiran is currently serving on the Technical Committee of various conferences and is a reviewer/member of the Editorial board of several reputable journals.
show more »Dr Helena Varkkey is an Associate Professor of Political Ecology at the Department of International and Strategic Studies, Universiti Malaya. Her areas of expertise include transboundary haze governance in Southeast Asia and global palm oil politics. Her monograph on “The Haze Problem in Southeast Asia: Palm Oil and Politics” was published by Routledge in 2016. Her latest book is a collection of essays on the politics of haze and the environment in Southeast Asia called “The Forests for the Palms” published by ISEAS Singapore in 2021. Dr Helena has almost two decades of experience in qualitative research, including conducting fieldwork, interviews, and focus groups among various government and non-government stakeholders, and has built up extensive research networks in countries across ASEAN. She has edited and produced reports for the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, UNICEF, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
show more »Dr Nurul Shamsinah is currently a senior lecturer and a plant microbiologist at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya (UM). She graduated with Bac. in Agriculture Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2009 and obtained her PhD from UM in 2017. Currently, she is an active member of the Malaysian Agroecology Society for Sustainable Resource Intensification (SRI-Mas), Malaysia and the Malaysian Society for Microbiology. Her field of interest is in plant disease diagnostics which is rooted in the intention to contribute to the enhancements of farmers’ ability to properly detect, manage and recover from the devastating consequences of plant disease outbreaks. Besides that, she is also actively doing research on soil microbiome analysis to improve soil health which will subsequently increase agricultural productivity and sustainability.
