PROF. VIVEK A/L AJIT SINGH

Professor Dr Vivek Ajit Singh is a Professor of Orthopaedics and head of the Orthopedic Oncology unit in Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. He obtained his medical degree from University Malaya in 1984. He worked in Hospital Muar and Mersing before enrolling in University Malaya for Master’s in Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed his master’s degree in 2001 and was awarded with the Subramaniam Gold Medal for the best clinical master’s student. Subsequently, in 2002 he was awarded with Fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Then, he worked in Penang General Hospital as an Orthopaedic surgeon and was awarded with a fellowship scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2003 to pursue Fellowship Orthopaedic Oncology in Birmingham, UK (The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital). He completed his fellowship in 2004, after which he continued his service in Penang General Hospital. He subsequently joined University Malaya in 2006 and is working there till now. He teaches postgraduate and undergraduate students from the Faculty of Medicine. Prof Vivek has published more than 50 research papers in various medical journals and 2 text-books related to his field of expertise and basic science. He is currently an active member of several international and national professional bodies such as International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS), Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (APMSTS), East Asia Musculoskeletal Oncology Group (EAMOG), and many more. Besides the clinical field, he is also active in the research field and has won prestigious awards such as The Dr Robert Bauze Trauma Award, P. Balasubramaniam Award, and Tumour Award. Other than his academic accomplishments, he also provides testimonies as an expert witness for various medicolegal cases of insurance claim disputes. As part of his social responsibility and contribution to the society, he also gives healthcare, or more specifically orthopaedic related talks to public and media.

ASSOCIATE PROF. IR. DR. AHMAD KHAIRI BIN ABDUL WAHAB

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi ABDUL-WAHAB, Ph.D, MIET, C.Eng. (UK) is currently stationed at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He started his career at the University of Malaya from 1999 as a Research Assistant in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering after graduated from Cardiff University, Wales, United Kingdom in Electrical Electronics Engineering. He has completed his Master Engineering Science Degree's research (M.Eng.Sc.) in the application of neural network as an intelligent process controller for a chemical reactor.Then, he continued his research in Ph.D. in Genetic Algorithm, Fuzzy Logic, and Neurofuzzy in controlling the temperature of a Partially Simulated Exothermic Chemical Reactor (PARS-EX) in the Department of Chemical Engineering and completed his Ph.D. in 2010. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi has initially started his career as a lecturer in 2006 in the Department of Electrical Engineering and currently is serving the Department of Biomedical Engineering as an Associate Professor. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi was the Principle Investigator for a High Impact Research, Cycle 2, 2 subprogram projects leader for University Malaya Research Grant (UMRG) projects, and 1 subprogram in Faculty of Engineering Research Grant. His current research interest are in biomedical modelling and control system, bio-instrumentation, medical devices, and artificial intelligence.

DR. MOHD FAIRUZ BIN ZAMANI

Dr. Mohd Fairuz Zamani, commonly known as Fairuz Zamani, is currently serving as an academic at the Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya (UM), where he holds the position of Deputy Dean of Postgraduate, Research & Innovation. His research focuses on contemporary Malaysian music composition, with particular interest in developing analytical frameworks for the works of Malaysian composers. Dr. Fairuz has published in several esteemed academic journals, including Muzikološki Zbornik, Malaysian Journal of Music, Harmonia: Journal of Arts Research and Education, Wacana Seni, and 3L: Language, Linguistics, Literature. His forthcoming articles are scheduled for publication in Wacana Seni (late 2025) and Resonancias (mid 2026). He has led research projects aimed at promoting Malaysian piano repertoire to wider audiences and currently oversees a grant focused on analytical methodologies for selected works by Razak Abdul Aziz. Beyond academia, Dr. Fairuz is an active composer. He has been a member of the Malaysian Composers Collective since 2022, under which he premiered Phrygian Fantasy (2023), Kenyalang Rhapsody (2022), and Two Miniatures (2022). During his tenure as resident arranger for Koir Kebangsaan Malaysia and Permata Seni Koir, he composed two commissioned works for the Department of Culture and Arts, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC): Nuance of Rebab Fantasy (2013) and Mek Mulung Cycle (2018). His choral arrangements continue to be performed in national and international competitions, often by award-winning ensembles. Dr. Fairuz is also a seasoned performer and adjudicator. In June 2025, he was awarded the Prix de Perfectionnement à l’unanimité for outstanding performance at the Conservatoire International de Musique de Paris. His recent notable performances include Music of Johan Othman and Razak Aziz (2023), The Carnival of the Animals (2022) with the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia, and Beethoven’s 250th Birthday Celebration Concert at the German Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (2021). He has also served as adjudicator for events such as the MAME Folksong Festival (Piano category) and the 2nd China-ASEAN Music and Arts Cultural Exchange in 2024.
