Lee Kean Yew was born in Jinjang New Village, Malaysia. He completed his PhD in Economics and Administration at the Asia-Europe Institute of the University of Malaya. Prior to this, he served as the Academic Director of the Centre for Malaysia Chinese Studies, where he engaged in scholarly research focusing on Malaysia's Chinese community and published his findings in books, conference proceedings, and a bilingual journal. Currently, he is a senior lecturer and full member at both the Department of Chinese Studies and the Malaysian Chinese Research Centre (MCRC) at the University of Malaya. His research primarily explores overseas Chinese business, cultural studies and religion ethics in business as well as contemporary Buddhism . Among his responsibilities is to promote mutual understanding and communication to explore cooperation opportunities between Malaysian Chinese and overseas enterprises. His research interests encompass entrepreneurial economics, innovation management, Chinese business studies, Asian ethnicity, and development studies. He aims to enhance interactions between Malaysian firms and governments, foster closer ties among Malaysian and international businesses, and contribute to the overall development of Malaysian-European and Malaysian-China economic and trade relations. Recently, he joined the International Council of Small Business (ICSB) to support the growth and development of small businesses in Malaysia. Additionally, he has earned a one-year diploma in Buddhist studies from the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. 李健友(John Lee Kean Yew)出生于马来西亚吉隆坡增江新村,祖籍惠州,属于客家人。李博士毕业于马来亚大学亚欧研究院,获得经济管理博士学位。目前,他担任马来亚大学中文系的高级讲师,以及华人研究中心的学术成员和马来西亚华社研究中心(华研)的学术董事。 在2018年,李博士荣获第11届“崇越论文大赏”最佳论文奖。他多次受邀参与在马来西亚、中国、英国、美国、澳大利亚等地举行的国际学术会议,并发表的多篇论文均被收录在WOS及SCOPUS社会科学论文索引数据库中。 值此“一带一路倡议”迈入十周年之际,李博士与马来西亚拉曼理工大学的学者共同撰写了《十年成就:中国“一带一路倡议”对马来西亚经济增长的贡献》(2023年),以及英文专著《隐性中的新知识:马来西亚华人家族企业创新》(Routledge,2024年)。他的研究领域涵盖华人家族企业、企业精神与创新管理、佛教研究、华侨华人研究、中国-马来西亚经济发展研究等。此外,他还获得斯里兰卡佛教和巴利大学的佛教研究一年制文凭。
show more »Dr. Rafdzah Binti Ahmad Zaki is a Public Health Medicine Specialist and a Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. With a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of public health, she has made significant contributions to research, teaching, and administrative duties. Throughout her career, Dr. Rafdzah has demonstrated her dedication to academia and the medical community. Dr. Rafdzah has previously worked at Wirral NHS Trust (Clatterbridge Hospital and Arrowe Park Hospital) in the UK and North Cheshire NHS Trust (Halton General Hospital) in the UK. She has been a valuable member of the University of Malaya since June 2007, serving as a Medical Lecturer and later rising to the position of Professor. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from the University of Malaya, a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the same institution, and an MBChB from the University of Liverpool, UK. Her doctoral thesis, titled "An Evaluation of Statistical Methods for Determining Agreement and Reliability in Medicine," reflects her commitment to advancing the field of public health through rigorous research. She had received training in Evidence-Based Medicine from the University of Oxford and formal exposure in Clinical Epidemiology from the University Medical Centre Utrecht, Netherlands. She also attended a workshop on the Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College, London to deepen her skill in mathematical modelling. With over 16 years of professional experience, Dr. Rafdzah has made significant contributions to the field of public health. Her research interests include epidemiology, implementation science, infectious diseases, and statistical methods. She has published extensively, with her work being cited over 3,900 times and has an h-index of 20 according to Google Scholar. Her research has been recognized and supported through various grants, both international and local. In 2023 she was listed in the top 2% scientist in the world in her field by Stanford University through Elsevier data repository. She has received accolades such as the Excellence Service Award from the University of Malaya and the Silver Award in the International Summit of Innovation & Design Exposition for her work on the "Fight the Bite" mobile application. She received an award from the European Society In Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases for an attachment at the European Centre for Disease and Control (ECDC), Stockholm Sweden. She also has been selected as a Faculty Scholar for the Malaysian Implementation Science Training (MIST) Program and attended training in Implementation Science at Yale University under the NIH Fogarty fund. In addition to her research and teaching roles, Dr. Rafdzah has actively contributed to various administrative duties within the University of Malaya and national and international organizations. She serves as the Head of the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Practice, Chairman of the TB Monitoring and Prevention Committee at UMMC, Secretary of the UMMC Vaccine Action Committee, and a UMMC COVID-19 Taskforce Committee member. Dr Rafdzah was appointed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) as a member of the Independent COVID-19 Vaccination Advisory Committee (ICVAC). She also holds memberships in the Malaysian Society for Environmental Epidemiology, Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health-Kuala Lumpur (APACPH-KL), and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Rafdzah's expertise is sought after in the consultancy field, where she has contributed to projects for organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), TDR Regional Training Centre for Implementation Western Pacific Region, and the Ministry of Health. She has also been actively involved in academic contributions, including teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervision of more than 30 postgraduate students, and the development of online courses. Recently, she developed an online course, "Mpox: Understanding the Epidemiology and the Potential Threat," on the FutureLearn platform. Moreover, she regularly conducts workshops and training sessions on topics such as evidence-based practice, systematic review, meta-analysis, and implementation science. Dr. Rafdzah is a respected reviewer for various journals, including the HIV Lancet journal, and regularly speaks at national and international conferences. She also appeared on TV and radio and was cited by the media on many occasions to discuss public health issues such as COVID-19, Mpox, dengue and Zika virus. With her extensive knowledge, research accomplishments, and dedication to improving public health, Prof. Dr. Rafdzah Binti Ahmad Zaki continues to make a significant impact in the field of public health and medical education.
show more »Mashitah Hamidi is an Associate Professor of Migration Studies at the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Universiti Malaya. Her research interest is focusing on migration and displacement groups. She is currently a Head of Department of Social Administration and Justice, and Head of Population and Migration Research Center, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Human Development and Masters in Human Resource Development (MHRD) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She pursued her PhD in Sociology at La Trobe University, Australia. Her areas of research include development studies, social integration, advocacy and social services systems of transnational labor and gendered migration, stateless and refugee groups. She handled numerous research include Indonesian Women Migrants in Malaysia, Stateless Children in Kuala Lumpur, Rohingya refugee community. She is a committee member of ATIPSOM for the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF). She delivered a Keynote speech at the 1st World Conference on Gender Studies (WCGS) 2019. Mashitah was appointed as a visiting professor at the Sociology Education Department, Faculty of Social Science Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in 2022 and visiting scholar at the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Nanjing University, 2025.
