DR. YONG SOOK LU

Dr Yong Sook Lu working in Department of Economics and Applied Statistics at University of Malaya, MALAYSIA. She holds PhD (Economics, Lancaster University, United Kingdom), MEcon (Economics, UM, Malaysia) and BEcon (Analytical Economics, UM, Malaysia). Her research expertise includes Industrial Organisation, Microeconomics, Monetary Economics and Public Health. She has taught several courses at Undergraduate level including:  Microeconomics, Malaysian Economy, Introduction to Mathematical Economics, Industrial Economics, Macroeconomics and Health Economics (at University of Malaya); Principles of Economics, Microeconomics and Econometrics (at HELP University). She supervised over 50 UG projects including industrial placement projects (at University of Malaya); over 30 Masters Research Projects (at University of Malaya); and 4 PhD (under supervision).  Produced over 15 publications, including book chapters, articles in internationally refereed journals, policy briefs and reports. She has also reviewed several papers for journals and conferences. She has led research projects on: " A Regional Study on Social Protection coverage: ASEAN Countries " (SWRC Grant), "The Impact of Uncertainty on Economic Growth: The Case of ASEAN-5 " (University Grant), “Industrial Organisation and Classification of Firms Listed in Bursa Malaysia” (University Grant) and “Exploring CPI Basket for Identifying Minimum Essentials in Reference Budgets” (SWRC Grant). She is also a co-researcher for projects such as " Rural Women Empowerment through Entrepreneurship " (FRGS); “Malaysia Ageing and Retirement Survey” and “Belanjawanku" (SWRC Grant) and " Malaysia: Labelling Regulations on Natural Rubber Condoms and the WTO TBT Agreement " (Australian Government Aids). She is an Editor for Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies. DR. MOHD KHAIRULNAZRIN BIN MOHD NASIR

Dr. Mohd Khairulnazrin bin Mohd Nasir, ana jati kelahiran Kelantan. Memperoleh Ijazah Kedoktoran (Ph.D) Usuluddin di Universiti Malaya dalam bidang hadith pada tahun 2020 dengan anugerah tesis cemerlang (with distinction). Tesisnya bertajuk “Hadith tentang roh dalam al-Kutub al-Tis’ah: Kajian terhadap keperluan pembangunan garis panduan representasi unsur roh dalam filem seram di Malaysia.” Memperoleh Ijazah Sarjana Usuluddin di Universiti Malaya (UM) pada 2017 dalam bidang al-Hadith dengan tesis bertajuk “Kepercayaan animisme menurut perspektif Sunnah: Kajian terhadap imam dan remaja di Pitas, Sabah.” Beliau juga memegang dua Ijazah Sarjana Muda dalam bidang al-Quran dan al-Qiraat dari Maahad Qiraat al-Azhar di Shoubra,  Mesir pada 2008 dan yang kedua Ijazah Sarjana Muda dalam al-Hadith dan Pengajian Islam dari Fakulti al-Hadith, Universiti Islam Madinah, Arab Saudi. Beliau banyak menulis kertas kerja dan dibentangkan di seminar-seminar kebangsaan dan antarabangsa. Penulisan beliau merangkumi bidang pengajian al-Quran, al-Hadith dan akidah. Pernah bertugas di Jabatan Usuluddin, Fakulti Pengajian Islam Kontemporari, Kolej Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra (KIAS), Nilam Puri, Kota Bharu Kelantan (Jun 2017 – Feb 2024). Bertugas sebagai Pensyarah Kanan di Akademi Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya, Pusat Pendidikan Universiti Malaya, Bachok Kelantan (Mac 2024-kini).

PROF. DR. TUNKU KAMARUL ZAMAN BIN TUNKU ZAINOL ABIDIN

Tunku Kamarul Zaman (or Prof. TK as he is commonly known) is The Professor of Orthopaedics & Regenerative Medicine in University of Malaya (UM) with special interest in upper limb and microsurgery. He is considered the nation’s foremost expert in musculoskeletal basic sciences and research related to Orthopaedic Regenerative Medicine.  He obtained his medical degree (M.D.) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 1998. He entered the Masters of Orthopaedics speciality training program i.e. M.S.(Ortho), in UM (2000) and was later inducted as a lecturer in the same university upon completing his training in 2004. He also obtained a diploma in tissue banking from National University of Singapore in 2003 during his surgical training. Upon completing his sub-speciality rotations locally, he was awarded a national scholarship to pursue his sub-specialty training in the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen hospitals from 2006 till 2010. During that period, he also obtained a PhD degree from The University of Liverpool. He is an accomplished academician and researcher; with over 220 peer-reviewed articles in many impact factored journals and has been invited to present the research groups' discoveries in numerous international scientific meetings (Citations: >7,600; H-index=50). He founded and still heads the tissue engineering group, a division under The National Orthopaedic Centre for Research and Learning (NOCERAL), supervising around 25 research students at any given time. In addition to doing clinical work and research, he is also heavily involved in administrative duties. His is at present the Executive Director for UM’s Center for Continuous Education (UMCCED), appointed since October 2024. His previous executive administrative duties include being the Director (CEO) of University of Malaya Medical Centre (2015-2020), Deputy dean of research for faculty of medicine (2012-2014), Acting dean for faculty of medicine (2014), Deputy director (clinical) for UMMC (2014-2015), and Director for the Clinical Investigative Centre in UMMC (an internationally award winning centre that conducts over 200 clinical trials a year; 2013-2014). He was also head-hunted to develop Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Bertam Campus in Penang, and established USM Medical Center there during his secondment (2021-2024). Other notable previous appointments include the Chairman of the Public University Hospital Consortium (KHUAM) and advisor on matters relating to the Healthcare for the Ministry of Higher Education (2018-2021). Prof. TK shares his experience and expertise by being a member of several Executive Boards in private university hospitals and international societies. He sits in many national level committees, national research grant review committee, a member of many international societies, have been invited to speak in several academic subjects in many international meetings and, a reviewer and editor/editor-in-chief to a number of academic journals. Due to his vast experience in various areas, he is a recognized trainer for not only Orthopaedics and Research, but also in management, leadership and strategic planning. As an academician, Prof. TK has held the title of Professor from University of Malaya since 2011 at the age of 38. He is/has been nominated and appointed as adjunct and honorary professors in several local and international universities; as well as council members and expert panellist in several organizations such as the prestigious Academy of Science in Malaysia and other Government agencies.
