Dr. Norhanim Zakaria is an Associates Professor in the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. She has held various responsibilities in academic administration including Head of Department and Programme Coordinator for Master of Science in Project Management at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. Her research interest in project management focuses on Life Cycle Cost (LCC). Dr. Norhanim had involved in quantity surveying-related consultation projects in Malaysia via the Universiti Malaya consultation unit i.e. UPUM Sdn Bhd. Dr. Norhanim has published articles in academic journals, including ISI and Scopus indexed, and books. She also has contributed articles in newsletters and bulletins and presented papers at conferences locally and internationally. She has worked as a Principal Investigator and as a co-researcher for external and internal grants. Dr. Norhanim had also registered 3 intellectual properties (IPR) on research products.
show more »Dr Nor Adinar BAHARUDDIN received her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in 2010 from the University of Otago, New Zealand. Her thesis is on bone healing in animal model. Dr Baharuddin returned home and continues research in her field of interest; on periodontal screening tools, biomarkers for periodontitis, regeneration, animal model and obesity related to periodontal disease. She has published articles in various international journals. At present, she is a Professor (Periodontology) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya Kuala Lumpur. She has 28 years of experience in teaching, research and management roles. Among all, she has served as the Deputy Dean of Research from February 2022 until December 2024; and the Head of Department in 2006 and from 2011-2014. She played a pivotal role in positioning the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, among the Top 100 in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2025, establishing it as Malaysia’s sole ranked programme in the field. She has been involved in curriculum development for both undergraduate and postgraduate programme. She contributes as a panel for the Accreditation Assessment for the Postgraduate Dental Education and a committee member for the DentSEdC under the Dental Specialist Assessment Programme Committee for Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). She also serves as a committee for the Professional Qualifying Examination for the Malaysian Dental Council.
show more »In 2012, Shafina completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Following this, she embarked on a dedicated service as a dental officer at the Ministry of Health Malaysia until 2015. Later, she joined the Universiti Malaya, where she garnered a scholarship by the Ministry of Education Malaysia for her specialty training. Shafina pursued a Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, a milestone she attained in 2018. During the same year, she was awarded the Membership in Periodontics examination by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Upon her return from the United Kingdom, Shafina assumed the role of a clinical lecturer at the Universiti Malaya until September 2022. Throughout her tenure, she dedicated herself to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, encompassing academic and clinical aspects. Her impact extended to guiding master's students in navigating project management and thesis composition. Shafina has secured multiple research grants that facilitated the exploration of her diverse interests in fields such as Periodontology, Artificial Intelligence, and the response to COVID-19. She has contributed to scholarly discourse through the authorship of book chapters and publications featured in high-impact journals, as well as through her engagement with mass media. Her remarkable achievements have been recognised with several awards. Particularly noteworthy is her receipt of the prestigious Dental Education and Clinical Experience Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2022. Presently, Shafina is pursuing her doctorate at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Her research focus is centered around leveraging artificial intelligence to predict the prognosis of treatment outcomes for gingival recession around teeth.
