Dr. Sameer has a PhD in Social Networking and is presently working as Associate Professor at Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya. He has over two decades of work experience in the industry and academia and also holds a PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI, USA. Dr. Sameer has been consistently ranked in the World's Top 2% Scientists list (released by Stanford University and Elsevier) from 2021 to 2025 (present) - Field: Social Sciences. At Asia-Europe Institute (AEI) Dr. Sameer has taught courses at the Masters level on Information Technology K-Economy, Social and economic dimensions of Digital Economy, History of Southeast Asia and Research Methods . He has been the Program Co-ordinator for International Masters in Information Management (2014 - 2016) and is currently the Programme Co-ordinator for International Masters in ASEAN Studies program (2016 -). He is the founding Managing Editor of AEI Insights (an official AEI peer reviewed journal) since 2014. During 2015 he was the visiting scientist at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. His current research and teaching interests are in the field of Social Networks, Data Analytics, Educational Technologies, Social informatics, Digital economy in Asia-Europe, and History of Southeast Asia. Dr. Sameer has successfully completed grant-based research projects (High Impact Research and UM Frontier Science Research) as Principal Investigator and a bilateral interational project (ETH- Switzerland funded). He has organised international workshops and events and has chaired panels in international foras. He is the life member of Computer Society of India and member of several national and international research centers and associations. He has several papers published in ISI-Web of Science indexed journals (publishers include Springer, Emerald, Wiley, McMillan Palgrave, Elsevier and others). show more »Prof. Dr. Mohd Yamani Idna Idris has been a dedicated faculty member at Universiti Malaya since 2000, contributing significantly to education, research, and innovation. With interest and expertise in Internet of Things (IoT), image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition, his scholarly work has enriched both academic knowledge and practical applications. His extensive experience in teaching, learning, and research has influenced countless learners, and his research is widely published in reputed journals. As a mentor, he has successfully supervised 25 Ph.D. candidates, providing invaluable emotional and motivational support to ensure their success. His expertise is also sought after in academic circles, where he serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for journals like MJCS, Pattern Recognition, and IEEE Transactions on ITS. Additionally, he has been an external examiner for Ph.D. candidates and has contributed to international technical review panels. Beyond his research contributions, Dr. Idris has held key faculty leadership positions, including Head of Department and Deputy Dean (Undergraduate (acting) and Research & Development), playing a vital role in shaping academic direction and fostering innovation. He also has experience as the Industrial Training Coordinator, where he bridges the gap between academia and industry, providing students with valuable real-world insights. His contributions also extend to national progress, as he has actively participated in digitalization initiatives for government agencies like KPDNHEP and MATRADE. show more »Dr Reena Rajasuriar is a Clinical Pharmacist by training and an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine, University Malaya (UM). She also holds an adjunct position as a Fellow at the Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Melbourne, Australia. She leads the research unit at the Department of Medicine, UM and is Head of the Immunotherapeutics Laboratory (ITL), a core immunology research laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine, UM. Dr Rajasuriar completed her PhD in Immunogenetics at Monash University, Australia and now leads a translational research program in HIV and Aging at the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS (CERiA). Her training as a clinical and basic scientist has afforded Dr Rajasuriar the expertise to perform multidisciplinary research spanning basic, clinical and implementation studies. Her research focuses on understanding drivers of accelerated aging in people living with HIV and its interaction with functional aging outcomes. She is also invested in understanding how integrated HIV care can best be implemented in resource limited settings to promote healthy aging. Dr Rajasuriar has published extensively on the intersection of HIV and aging, and is an international leader in advancing the knowledge in this field, having delivered multiple plenaries at international forums, co-authored multiple opinion pieces and viewpoints as well as contributed to the development of consensus statements around this subject matter. Together with members of her team, she was instrumental in developing the first ECHO training program on HIV and Aging for the Asia Pacific region to advance capacity building for health professionals providing care for people with HIV. She is also the Principal Investigator of the only HIV and aging cohort in the Asia Pacific region studying aging from a multidimensional perspective, with over a decade of follow up (2014-2024). Dr Rajasuriar’s work is funded by various national and international funding bodies including the National Institutes of Health, US, the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia. She has received multiple accolades including the Australia-APEC Women in Research Fellowship (2015), the Loreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Malaysia Fellowship (2016), the IAS Research-for-Cure Academy Fellowship (2018), the CIRA International Visiting Fellowship to Yale (2019), the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Scholars Award (2023) and most recently, the Fulbright Malaysian Scholar Award (2024).
