PROF. GS. DR. ROSMADI BIN FAUZI

Rosmadi Fauzi is a Professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He obtained a Degree in Social Sciences (Political Science) in 1998, Master of Science (M. Sc.) in 1999 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in 2008 from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Pulau Pinang. He serves as a lecturer since 2004 and was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2014 and became a Professor in 2022. He was the Deputy Dean of Research and Development at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, he served as the Head of Geography Department from 2015 to 2017. Rosmadi Fauzi is an associate member of National Antarctic Research Centre. In 2008, under the Malaysian Antarctic Research Program (MARP) collaboration with Institute of Antarctica of Ecuador (INAE), Rosmadi Fauzi has joined the scientific expedition journey to the continent of Antarctica with other 22 South American Antarctic researchers to explore the mysteries of the continent. He has successfully carried out his scientific expedition and held a talk at the Scientific Antarctica Expedition Symposium at The State University Santa Elena Peninsula in Ecuador, South America. He has also been invited as a special guest and GIS experts for technical meeting, workshop and visit to INAE by the Institute of Antarctica of Ecuador (INAE) and has attended the 4th Latin American Symposium and 7th Chilean Meeting on Antarctic Research in ValparaÍso, Chile. He is also a member of UM Centre of Election and Democracy (UMCEDEL) where he is actively contributing his expertise in GIS to the center’s strategic researches on the nation’s social, electoral and political subjects.  Rosmadi Fauzi broad academic interests involve Geographical Information System, Spatial Politics and Electoral, Social Geography and Spatial Social Sciences. He has collaborated with local and international researchers and produced more than 170 publications including in Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus Journals, books, chapters, conferences papers, technical reports and newspapers.  He has been appointed as manuscript assessor, external examiner for thesis to several universities both locally and internationally. He was also Chief Editor for Malaysian Journal Tropical Geography (MJTG) and was appointed as reviewer for several international journals. Rosmadi Fauzi was also an evaluator for the Malaysia Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Research Grant Scheme (2012-2015) and a committee member for the Malaysian Ministry of Education Research Grant Scheme (2019-2020). As an active researcher and the principal investigator in a number of research projects, Rosmadi Fauzi has worked on GIS application, spatial model of voting, people’s perception and social impacts studies in Malaysia. The research work has been funded by local and international research grant such as Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Impact Oriented Interdisciplinary Research Grant (IIRG), University of Malaya Research Grant (UMRG), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Top-down Research Grant, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) grant and others, with cumulative research funding in excess of RM 2.2 million to date. He is also actively involved as a project consultant in numerous GIS Mapping research projects. His highest achievement was producing the first Malaysian National Atlas, a consultant project under Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM), Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources.  His other notable consultation works include GIS and BIG Data Project for FGV Prodata Systems, the IT arm of FELDA Group of Companies; Environment Sensitivity Index Mapping for one of the world largest oil and gas companies, Shell Berhad as well as reviewer for Malaysian General Election Atlas and Electoral Research Project of the 13th,14th and 15th General Election for Malaysia’s pay television news channel Astro AWANI, and more. Rosmadi Fauzi is also actively involved in contribution to society. He is the President of The Parent Teacher Association (PIBG) of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Langat, Banting and the Vice Chairman of Masjid as Syariff Telok Datok, Banting. Apart from that, he is actively appeared in the mass media and wrote in local newspapers and often invited as guest speaker to discuss on contemporary topic and current issues of the country at local and international media.

PROF. DR. MUHAMMAD YAZID BIN JALALUDIN

Professor Dr Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin was born in 1972 in a small town, Lenggong, Perak. He received his primary education at SRK Bukit Balai, Lenggong and SRK Anglo Chinese School, Ipoh before going off to MARA Junior Science College Balik Pulau, Penang, for his secondary education. He then continued with foundation study in science at Centre for Foundation Science (Pusat Asasi Sains), University Malaya. Prof Yazid completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA in 2009 after obtaining his MBBS in 1997 and Masters of Paediatrics in 2004, both from University Malaya. In 2010 he was awarded as a Certified Paediatric Endocrinologist by the National Specialist Register (Malaysia).   Prof Yazid joined Ministry of Health as a House-officer from June 1997 to Dec 1998 and as a Medical Officer from Dec 1998 to June 2000. He then joined University Malaya as a Trainee Lecturer in 2000 and later as a Lecturer in 2004. In 2007, he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer. He is currently a Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) who specializes in endocrine and diabetes management in children, and a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. For his excellent service, he was awarded Excellence Service Certificate by University Malaya in 2006 and 2010 and Excellence Service Award in 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2023. He was also awarded the Excellent Lecturer (Clinical) Award at the University Malaya Excellence Award 2017.    He has been a member of various medical societies, including The Endocrine Society USA, International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) and the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) as well as a life-member of the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA). He was the President of Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) 2018-2020 and the President of Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) 2017-2019. He is the Vice President of MEMS 2022-2024 and 2024-2026, and Diabetes Malaysia Council Member 2023-2025.     With research interest in diabetes, obesity and vitamin D in children, Prof Yazid’s work has been published in various academic journals and as textbook chapters. Two articles on new medication for Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity in young children were published in the most prestigious medical journal, the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) in 2019 and 2024, respectively. He holds many significant national and international research grants. He also acts as Scientific Advisors for many multicentre international research for type 2 diabetes and obesity in children. He has numerous experiences presenting in conferences and workshops locally and abroad. He had previously received Travel Grant Awards to the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Meetings in Slovenia (2009), Argentina (2010) and Turkey (2012), and to the Endocrine Society’s 91st Annual Meeting in Washington DC, USA (2009) where he was awarded the winner of the Presidential Poster Presentation. He also won the Best Poster Presentation at the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Meeting 2012, in Istanbul, Turkey. Many of his Clinical Masters of Paediatrics students has won various awards (in National Conferences) for their research projects under his tutelage. Prof Yazid has also been involved in many support group and advocacy work. For his relentless effort in improving children's health and well-being, he was recently awarded the Asian Outstanding Paediatrician Award at the 18th Asia Pacific Congress of Paediatrics in Cebu Manila on 16th November 2024.

PROF. DR. HARIS BIN ABD WAHAB

Professor Dr. Haris Abd Wahab is a faculty member at the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. He currently serves as the Deputy Dean (Development) and previously held the position of Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) within the same faculty. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Haris specializes in Community Development and has been instrumental in advancing teaching, learning, and research in the fields of community development and social work. He lectures on various subjects including social problems, social work, community development, social marketing, research methodology, and social theories. His research interests encompass community well-being, social care programs for at-risk children in Malaysia, children’s well-being, and social development among vulnerable groups. Before joining academia, Dr. Haris served as a Medical Social Worker at the Ministry of Health Malaysia from 1996 to 2000, where he gained valuable field experience in social work practice.
