Dr. Li Ran is Senior Lecturer at Institute of China Studies, Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her doctoral degree in Economics from Department of Economics, Universiti Malaya in 2014. Her specialization is in the transformation of China’s state enterprises, state enterprise system and China’s political-economic system, and her current areas of research include China’s global strategy and China-Malaysia economic relations. Her previous writings have appeared in a number of international journals such as China: An International Journal, Cities, International Journal of China Studies, and Journal of Contemporary Asia. Moreover, her doctoral thesis was published as a book by a reputable publisher Palgrave Macmillan. She also wrote for Sin Chew Daily as a column author regularly.
show more »Dr Meshari Al-Daihani attained a B.A. in accounting at Kuwait University-College of Business Administration, a foundational degree that provided him with a strong understanding of financial principles, which he later applied to Islamic finance. He then pursued a master in Accounting at Al al-Bayt University – Jordan, and a Master's in Islamic Finance and Banking with high distinction from the recognised College of Business at the Northern University of Malaysia (UUM), an AACSB accredited with a ranking of 400 in QS 2024, 90th in Asia and 2nd in Malaysia (2 Master degrees). In addition, He has attained a PhD in Islamic Finance and Banking with high distinction from the recognised Academy of Islamic Studies at the University of Malaya (UM) with a ranking of 65 in QS 2024, 16th in Asia and 1st in Malaysia. As an accomplished and passionate academician. Dr. Al-Daihani has dedicated over five years to academic and research in Islamic finance-related disciplines. Dr Al-Daihani has obtained many professional certificates in Islamic Finance (Islamic Financial Planner (IFP) IBFIM.His professional certifications further underscore Dr. Al-Daihani's expertise in Islamic finance. He is a certified Shariah Adviser and Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI, a Vocational Master in Islamic Economics from EAIFE, and an Islamic Certified Trainer from the Islamic Economic Club-Kuwait University. Dr. Al-Daihani's research has made a significant Impact in the field of Islamic finance. show more »Sr Dr. Loo Siaw Chuing (Angeline) obtained her Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) (Distinction, 2008), Master of Science (Building) (Distinction, 2011), and her PhD (Project & Construction Management, 2015) from Universiti Malaya. She has been a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Quantity Surveying since 2016, a registered professional quantity surveyor with BQSM, and a member of RISM since 2020. She was the coordinator for Master of Project Management for 4 years and is currently the coordinator for open and distance learning for the Faculty of Built Environment and the coordinator for Bachelor of Quantity Surveying. Dr. Loo teaches undergraduate courses: Principles of Management, Data Analysis, Measurement, Research Methodology, Building Structure, and Research Project and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her research interests are project management, risk management, and international construction focusing on project performance and delivery. She also secured 16 internal and external grants with her collaborators. She has published more than 40 international refereed journal papers, 2 books, and 10 conference papers. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Surveying, Construction and Property. She is currently an external examiner for SEGi University and also one of the Sarawak Course Advisory Committee Members for Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus. She has garnered a few research and service awards. She won two best paper awards (conferences held in Italy and Indonesia), a gold award and novice special award (won with her final year supervisee), a gold award (teaching enhancement research with her colleagues), and other awards. She also received the Certificate of Excellent Service (SPC) in 2020 and the Award of Excellent Service (APC) in 2021 and 2024. She has been actively serving RISM: organizing committee for RISM research conferences for three consecutive years and secretary for the PAQS Congress 2023. She is also the current committee member for the QS Division 2024/2025 and 2026/2026 at the RISM and one of the subcommittee member at the BQSM. She is an active QS consultant at the University’s consultancy unit known as Unit Perundingan Universiti Malaya (UPUM), where she is involved in both private and public projects.
