Professor Dr Azlina Amir Abbas is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in adult reconstruction, with particular expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty, including complex primary and revision joint replacement surgery and the management of prosthetic joint infection. She obtained her undergraduate medical degree (MD) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and completed her Master of Orthopaedic Surgery at Universiti Malaya. She subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training in adult reconstruction at Universiti Malaya and Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital, South Korea, gaining further experience in complex arthroplasty and revision surgery. Professor Dr Azlina is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, including specialist and subspecialty training in orthopaedic surgery. She has contributed to curriculum development, accreditation-related activities, and the implementation of competency-based surgical training, particularly in the field of arthroplasty. In addition to her academic and clinical roles, she holds a key administrative appointment as Deputy Dean (Development and Infrastructure), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. Her responsibilities include oversight of faculty development and infrastructure planning, facilities and asset management, ICT-related coordination, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to support the Faculty’s academic, clinical, and research missions. Her research interests include clinical outcomes in hip and knee arthroplasty, prosthetic joint infection, revision joint replacement surgery, and quality improvement in orthopaedic care. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at national and international scientific meetings.
show more »Dr Snehlata Samberkar is a Medical Lecturer at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She received her basic medical qualifications from Mumbai University, along with an additional postgraduate degree. She received her masters degree from Universiti Malaya. She has served in the field of Anatomy for 20 years both in Fiji and Malaysia. She has published articles in local and international (WOS) indexed journals and 2 book chapters.She is currently an editorial team member for the Journal of Kidney Cancer and VHL. Her research interests include the study of tumour biomarkers in RCC, anatomy education and hyperglycemia in pregnancy. She is also associated with USM (Indonesia) for the extension of her project. Recently, she started a SHE program for undergraduate students at the University of Malaya. This program focuses on "conducting a Bibliometric Review using AI tools"
show more »Dr. Hanaa Samaha is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of English Language at the Faculty of Language and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She received her PhD Degree in Syntax, Systemic Functional Linguistics in 2022 from Universiti Malaya. Her research focused on syntax, with her primary interest in functional syntax and Systemic Functional Linguistics, specifically the Cardiff Grammar. Her current research includes Appraisal Theory, discourse analysis, multimodality, and language learning and teaching theories and their implication in second language learning.
