DR. BEH HOOI CHIN

I am a Family Medicine Specialist who has a deep interest in research related to hypertension, respiratory diseases in primary care, and telemedicine. I am commited to the field of hypertension is evident through my active involvement in various activities and societies related to hypertension. I have a remarkable track record of active participation and leadership roles in organizations, which reflects my dedication to advancing the field. Since 2022, I served as a Council Member of the Malaysian Society of Hypertension (MSH), vice president of the Malaysian Society for World Action on Salt, Sugar, and Health (MyWASSH) since 2024.  One of my most significant achievements is my active participation in organizing hypertension-related screening campaigns, particularly in collaboration with the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and the May Measurement Month (MMM). I had been actively involved in hypertension screening campaigns in my hospital since 2015.  I serve as the key leader for the Asthma Right Care Initiatives, launched by the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG), which focuses on promoting appropriate asthma management by addressing SABA overreliance in our setting. Additionally, I lead the teleconsultation services in my clinic, where we have implemented quality improvement projects to ensure continuous enhancement of our overall services.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. PETER ANING ANAK TEDONG

Peter Aning Tedong joined the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Malaya in December 2014. He is currently the Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning. He also serves as the Head of Centre for Malaysian Indigenous Studies. As urban studies and housing scholar, Peter Aning’s broad areas of interest cover housing policy and governance, political economy in urban planning, and neighborhood sustainability and planning. He has received numerous research grants both from the public and private sectors. Recently completed projects explored the socio-spatial planning plans in the context of the urban future in Malaysia and the poverty among the indigenous communities in rural areas. He has also carried out work on the role of governance in governing vulnerable communities (refugees, stateless and foreign workers) and examining various issues related to housing and migration in Malaysian Cities. His latest area of interest is multi-layered governance of affordable housing, the Sustainable Development Goals in relation to neighborhood and community planning, and the impacts of migration towards regional and urban development.  Peter’s empirical focus is on the South East Asia region, but he has conducted fieldwork in Europe, Borneo Islands, North America, and also Oceania countries.

DR. MOHAMAD SHAFIQ BIN AZANAN

Dr Mohamad Shafiq is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biotechnology, specializing in cellular, molecular, and developmental biology, from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He completed his Honours Year for a project on skeletal developmental disease at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and the Royal Children Hospital, Melbourne. He then obtained his Ph.D. from Universiti Malaya in 2019 for his research on the role of immune derangements in the late effects of childhood cancer survivors. Currently his research topics involved haematology-oncology, ageing and paediatric research. He is also the consultants and collaborates in many projects that involved flow cytometry.
