Nik Daliana Nik Farid earned her medical degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia in 2001. Upon graduation, she joined the Malaysian government service and did house officer training and medical officer work at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. In 2005, she joined the Institute for Public Health where she was appointed as the Main Research Group member for the Third National Health and Morbidity Survey. In 2007, she went on to study at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur where she received her Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees. In 2012, she served as the second Medical Officer of Health at Mukah Division Health Office, Sarawak where she covered two major sections namely Epidemiology as well as Maternal and Child Health. Nik Daliana then continued her service as the Head of Primary Health Care Unit at the Hulu Langat District Health Office, Selangor. She left the Ministry of Health in August 2013 to serve the University of Malaya. Nik Daliana is currently a Medical Lecturer in the Department of Social and Peventive Medicine with a specialisation in Public Health. She has a special interest in adolescent health. More specifically her work aims to address the five areas, namely sexual and reproductive health, mental health, nutritional health, physical activity and high risk behaviour. Her contribution to this field include: conducting research on sexual risk behaviour among incarcerated adolescents in welfare institutions; assessing for non-communicable diseases among school-going adolesents and setting up of an adolescent friendly website for quasi experimental study. Also, she is involved in the collection and distribution of literatures pertaining to adolescent's health by a clearinghouse centre in UM. Nik Daliana is presently a member of the Malaysian Association for Adolescent Health (MAAH); Malaysian Clearinghouse Center for Adolescent Health (MyCCAdH); Malaysian Care for Adolescent Project (MyCAP); Malaysian Health and Adolescents Longitudinal Research Study (MyHeARTs) and Ministry of Health Malaysia National Technical Committee for Adolescent Health. Nik Daliana teaches Family Health to postgraduate and undergraduate students. She coordinates one postgraduate course in 2019/20 i.e. Society, Behaviour and Health. A strong advocate of problem-based learning (PBL) technique, Nik Daliana tutors PBL sessions for Stage 1 and 2 University of Malaya Medical Programme (UMMP) students. Administratively, Nik Daliana has coordinated Master of Public Health and Master of Medical Science (Public Health) programmes. Currently, she coordinates the Doctor of Public Health Programme and assists in the coordination of the University of Malaya-Kyoto University Double Degree Programme for Public Health.
show more »Dr. Lim Wei Kang is a medical lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. He is a graduate of Cardiff University (UK) and received his postgraduate training in general paediatrics at Universiti Malaya. He completed his general paediatric neurology fellowship in Malaysia and underwent a clinical fellowship in paediatric movement disorders and neuromodulation at the Hospital for Sick Children, Canada. Currently he is practising as a consultant general paediatrician and paediatric neurologist in Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, with special interests in paediatric movement disorders and deep brain stimulation.
show more »Dr. Faissal completed his medical degree from University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, United Kingdom in the year 2001. Following which he completed his housemanship and worked as a senior house officer (SHO) in Wales, United Kingdom. He returned to Malaysia in 2005 as a trainee lecturer under the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) at Selayang Campus. He joined the Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Malaya (UM) in 2006. During his training, he was appointed as the Chief Resident and completed his clinical masters successfully in the year 2010. He practised orthopaedic surgery at Selayang Hospital and UiTM Sungai Buloh Campus. He was involved in the management of general orthopaedic, advanced trauma cases, arthroplasty and arthroscopy surgery. He then joined the Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship programme at University Malaya Medical Centre for two years (2013-2015). He passed the National Board of Orthopaedic Oncology examination under the Malaysian Ministry of Health in 2018. After completion of his fellowship, he was appointed as the Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, UiTM, Sungai Buloh Campus. Dr Faissal joined the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya as a senior lecturer and consultant orthopaedic surgeon in 2015. He is currently practicing in University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and UM Specialist Centre (UMSC). He is well experienced in general orthopaedic conditions, trauma (fractures), arthroplasty surgery and orthopaedic oncology surgery. He is active in teaching, research and has authored scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented free paper and posters at national and international conferences, such as Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA) Annual Scientific Meeting, International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS) and Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumour Society (APMSTS). Limb salvage surgeries with skeletal reconstruction: Endoprosthesis reconstructions of upper limb, lower limb and pelvis. Allograft or autologous bone reconstruction. Joint arthrodesis / Fusion Local soft tissue transfer/ flaps / skin grafting Revision of failed limb reconstructions/ endoprosthesis including prosthetic joint infection Fixation / Prophylactic fixation of pathological fractures & bone metastasis Amputation of all levels in upper and lower limbs.
