Mohammad Khairi Mokthar is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Dance Department of the Faculty of Creative Arts at Universiti Malaya. He completed his doctoral studies at Universiti Malaya, specializing in ethnography with a focus on Terinai, a traditional Malay Classical Dance of Perlis. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance Performance, with a major in contemporary dance, from Korea National University of Arts, (K'ARTS) Korea, where he was awarded a scholarship by the Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. His dance journey began during his teenage years when he was exposed to Malay traditional dance. He pursued his tertiary dance education at the National Academy of Arts, Culture, and Heritage (ASWARA), Malaysia, where he received formal training in various dance forms, including Malay classical and folk dance, Chinese folk dance, ethnic dance, and Indian classical dance. He completed his Diploma in Dance in 2010 and his Bachelor of Dance (Performance) in 2013 at ASWARA. In 2013, he made his debut as an Indian classical dancer with a Bharatanatyam Arangetram. He has also worked professionally, including as a principal dancer at ASK Dance Company and in England with the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance for the Classic Cut Tour in 2012 and 2013. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to dance, including Best Choreographer in Full-length Work at the 12th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards Malaysia in 2015, 2nd prize in the Seoul International Dance Competition in 2015 and 2016, and being named one of the Top 10 New Generation Malaysian Cultural Dancers in 2017. In addition to his performance work, Mohammad Khairi Mokthar has also served as a part-time lecturer and coach at various institutions, including Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) and ASWARA. He received The Shining Star Awards in 2019, organized by the Uniques Arts Culture and Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia. In 2019, he collaborated with choreographer Mavin Khoo and TFA Inner Space Dance Company for a performance titled "I am Ravana" at Sadler's Wells in London. He is recognized as an educator, choreographer, dancer, and scholar in the field of dance.
show more »Dr Arindam was born and raised in Kolkata (India) and he did his B.Sc. with Biotechnology (Jiwaji University, India) and M.Sc. in Marine Biology at the Pondicherry University (India). For his Doctoral degree in Marine micropalaeontology at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), India / University of Burdwan he worked on the Neogene microfossils and palaeoclimate of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He had the opportunity to travel internationally (UK, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Thailand, Poland, Taiwan, France, Turkey, Indonesia) and nationally to attend conferences and collaborated research work. His postdoctoral experience in India as a National Post-doctoral fellow (NPDF, 2017-2019) and Birbal Sahni Research Associate (BSRA, 2019-2022) at BSIP (India) was to understand the Neogene climate of northern Indian Ocean. During April, 2022 he joined the Stable Isotope laboratory at Institute of Earth Sciences (IES), Academia Sinica (Taiwan) as a Postdoctoral Researcher and worked on triple oxygen isotopes and silicon isotopes from diatoms. He is currently working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since March, 2023. Other than the teaching responsibilities his research is focused on the palaeoclimatic variability during the geological history. He use microfossils (mainly siliceous microfossils and calacreous nannofossils) and their chemistry to determine patterns of global climatic conditions and ecology. He is also currently working on samples from International Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 342 (North Atlantic), Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 378 (South Pacific) and Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 391 (South Indian). He is also the Supervisor of the Geology Museum, Universiti Malaya. Dr Arindam is the Associate Fellow of Academy Sains Malaysia, Membership Secretary of The Micropalaeontological Society (UK) and also nominated member of Risk-KAN 'Past4future' Working group.
show more »S. M. Kayser Azam was born in Pabna, Bangladesh. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh, in 2013. He completed his M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2019. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2024, supported by the prestigious Malaysian International Scholarship awarded by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Currently, he serves as an academic staff member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya. He has prior industry experience as a Power Engineer at Huawei Technologies Ltd. His research expertise encompasses applied electromagnetics, antennas, microwave components, wireless sensing, RFID technology, partial discharge detection, RF electronics, and multidisciplinary studies. His scholarly contributions include publications in high-impact journals and presentations at international conferences, with some receiving best paper awards. He has also served as a reviewer for reputable journals, including IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, and IEEE Access.
