Mohd Roslan Mohd Nor is Professor at the Dept of Islamic History, Civilization and Education, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He is currently the department's head, serving from April 2020 until now, and previously from 2009 to 2012. He was the Deputy Director (Research & Development) at the Academy of Islamic Studies from 1 July 2012 to 20 January 2019. Dr. Roslan’s broad academic interests involve Islamicjerusalem Studies, the Middle East, Islam and multi-culturalism, Muslim affairs, religious studies and civilization. Dr. Roslan supervises postgraduate students, many of whom have received their master's and doctoral degrees from this university. He has been appointed as external examiner from several universities, within and outside the country. Dr. Roslan participated in the Study of the United States Institute on Religious Pluralism, University of California Santa Barbara (2010), and has been a Visiting Scholar at different institutions such as Al-Maktoum Institute, Scotland (2009) and Minzu University, Beijing (2012-2013). In early 2020, he was appointed as honorary academic member of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan and delivered an online course for a complete semester that end in April 2020. Dr. Roslan has been invited to participate in international conferences as invited speaker in several universities, locally and internationally. He has a number of scholarly articles published in worldwide refereed and indexed journals (Web of Science and Scopus), and continues to be engaged actively in research. He was a recipient of 2018 MAPIM-KPT (then Ministry of Higher Education) award for book published in Social Sciences category. He also received a prestigious award Anugerah Akademik Negara (AAN) 2018 for book category. The book which he received the award entitled: The Significance of Islamicjerusalem in Islam, published in 2017 by Univ of Malaya Press. He has co-authored a book and published by UM Press in 2020 entitled: Konflik Gaza dan Misi Kemanusiaan Freedom Flotilla (Gaza Conflict and Humanitarian Mission of Freedom Flotilla). His recent co-authored book is Perkembangan Islam di Turkiye: Dari Era Khilafah hingga AKP (The Development of Islam in Turkiye: From the Era of Caliphate to AKP), published by UM Press in 2024. He has co-edited two books published in 2025; Bugis and Islam in the Malay World, and Konflik Palestin Jejak Sejarah dan Realiti Masakini, both published by UM Press. At the national level, he has been appointed and completed his task as a Member of Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) for the period of 2021-2024. He is committed in community services and has served as Nazir (Chairman) of Masjid al-Mukarramah in Kuala Lumpur since 2012-2025.
show more »Tunku Kamarul Zaman (or Prof. TK as he is commonly known) is The Professor of Orthopaedics & Regenerative Medicine in University of Malaya (UM) with special interest in upper limb and microsurgery. He is considered the nation’s foremost expert in musculoskeletal basic sciences and research related to Orthopaedic Regenerative Medicine. He obtained his medical degree (M.D.) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 1998. He entered the Masters of Orthopaedics speciality training program i.e. M.S.(Ortho), in UM (2000) and was later inducted as a lecturer in the same university upon completing his training in 2004. He also obtained a diploma in tissue banking from National University of Singapore in 2003 during his surgical training. Upon completing his sub-speciality rotations locally, he was awarded a national scholarship to pursue his sub-specialty training in the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen hospitals from 2006 till 2010. During that period, he also obtained a PhD degree from The University of Liverpool. He is an accomplished academician and researcher; with over 220 peer-reviewed articles in many impact factored journals and has been invited to present the research groups' discoveries in numerous international scientific meetings (Citations: >7,600; H-index=50). He founded and still heads the tissue engineering group, a division under The National Orthopaedic Centre for Research and Learning (NOCERAL), supervising around 25 research students at any given time. In addition to doing clinical work and research, he is also heavily involved in administrative duties. His is at present the Executive Director for UM’s Center for Continuous Education (UMCCED), appointed since October 2024. His previous executive administrative duties include being the Director (CEO) of University of Malaya Medical Centre (2015-2020), Deputy dean of research for faculty of medicine (2012-2014), Acting dean for faculty of medicine (2014), Deputy director (clinical) for UMMC (2014-2015), and Director for the Clinical Investigative Centre in UMMC (an internationally award winning centre that conducts over 200 clinical trials a year; 2013-2014). He was also head-hunted to develop Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Bertam Campus in Penang, and established USM Medical Center there during his secondment (2021-2024). Other notable previous appointments include the Chairman of the Public University Hospital Consortium (KHUAM) and advisor on matters relating to the Healthcare for the Ministry of Higher Education (2018-2021). Prof. TK shares his experience and expertise by being a member of several Executive Boards in private university hospitals and international societies. He sits in many national level committees, national research grant review committee, a member of many international societies, have been invited to speak in several academic subjects in many international meetings and, a reviewer and editor/editor-in-chief to a number of academic journals. Due to his vast experience in various areas, he is a recognized trainer for not only Orthopaedics and Research, but also in management, leadership and strategic planning. As an academician, Prof. TK has held the title of Professor from University of Malaya since 2011 at the age of 38. He is/has been nominated and appointed as adjunct and honorary professors in several local and international universities; as well as council members and expert panellist in several organizations such as the prestigious Academy of Science in Malaysia and other Government agencies.
show more »Rosila Bee Mohd Hussain is currently an Associate Prof. at the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She completed her PhD from The University of Western Australia. Her areas of research interest include social inequality, identity, youth, cross-cultural study and contemporary social issues (social capital, disability studies, gender and social threats). Her expert opinions on various sociological issues have often been shared on various media platforms like newspapers, talk shows and radio interviews in Malaysia. She has also completed and secured internal and external grants in the past years in relation to youth, social inequality and identity issues. Among others are UMRG (UM), FRGS (Malaysia), Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies and Japan Society for the Promotion Science (JSPS) as Research Collaborator. She has also published more than 50 journal articles, book chapters and proceedings from her research to share. Her current research work centers on social threats, lifestyle and risk society.
