Dr Surina Zaman Huri is a Geriatric Psychiatrist and Medical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2002 and later completed her Master of Medicine (Psychiatry) at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2012. She subsequently undertook a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry (2020–2024) with the Ministry of Health Malaysia, which included overseas training at Changi General Hospital, Singapore. Her clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of mental health conditions in older adults, including dementia, late-life depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, and other geriatric psychiatric conditions. She has particular expertise in dementia care, with an emphasis on the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) and the optimisation of quality of life for both patients and their caregivers. Her research interests include sleep disorders in older adults and dementia, with a particular focus on the interaction between sleep disturbances, cognitive decline, and behavioural and psychological symptoms, as well as their impact on cognitive and emotional health in later life. She also has a strong interest in understanding and addressing caregiver burden through the identification of caregivers’ needs and the development of supportive strategies to enhance well-being within the caregiving relationship.

Zamri obtained his BSc in Chemistry and MSc in pharmacology from the University of Malaya and later PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of London (UK) in 2007. Soon after completed his doctorate degree, he joined the Department of pharmacology, University of Malaya as a senior lecturer and currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and also Head of Universiti Malaya Research Centre for Biopharmaceuticals and Advanced Therapeutics (UBAT). He was recently awarded a Fellow by the British Pharmacological Society (FBPhS). His scope of research includes bioavailability and pharmacokinetic studies in human and animal models, drug delivery systems such as PEG-PLGA nanoparticles for systemic drug delivery, and semi solid formulations for transdermal and topical preparation.  Apart from human clinical trials and preclinical studies in animals, his research also covers the development of humanized mice model for cancers and cell based therapy for cancers. His laboratory also provides services and research in adulterated pharmaceutical products, xenobiotic studies on certain chemicals such as endocrine disruptors in food products, human bodies, etc. using GCMS, HPLC, LCMSMS, etc. Apart from his research activities, he also actively provided consultation to local pharmaceutical companies to conduct testing on pharmaceutical formulations especially for bioequivalence studies, comparative dissolution, etc. His bioequivalence laboratory has conducted more than 40 bioequivalence studies for generic drug formulations and also conducted drug analysis in biological and pharmaceutical formulations.   

Suraya Hamid completed her for Bachelor of Information Technology (Industrial Computing) 1998 and Master in Information Technology (Comp. Sc.) 2000 from The National University of Malaysia. Obtained Ph.D. from the Department of Computing and Information Systems, The University of Melbourne in 2013. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, Malaysia. She has also completed her tenure as the Head of Department (Information Systems) from August 2014- July 2017 and Deputy Dean of Students Affair 1/1/22 until 28/2/2025. Suraya was involved in various research in the areas of information systems specifically on social informatics, educational technology, information services, e-learning, and data analytics.  Established collaboration with international and national research collaborators for various research grants. Her works were also published in respectable ISI and SCOPUS indexed journals as well as presented at various international conferences. She actively supervises many students at all levels of study from undergraduate and post-graduate. She active with students’ activities as local and international level.  Suraya also involves with MyAIS and AIS (Association of Information Systems), AKRAB UM and various community projects.
