Dr. Foong Chan Choong is an expert in educational psychology, interdisciplinary studies, curriculum design, and psychometric. Dr. Foong, an Associate Professor at the Medical Education and Research Development Unit (MERDU) of the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Malaya, is an educator and researcher in the field of health professions education. He has been conferred the honor of Fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) PSG Regional Institute, India, and holds a first-class honors bachelor's degree in Science with Education from Universiti Malaya, where he also obtained his PhD in Education. Dr. Foong joined MERDU in 2013 and played a crucial role in the development of the university's new undergraduate medical curriculum. He initiated a new curriculum development project at the post-graduate level and in 2016, he developed the Master of Medical Education, which commenced in 2018 and he has been serving as the founding program coordinator until now. He is also responsible for teaching educational psychology, instructional design, and research methodology for the master's program. His proficiency and deep understanding of the development, implementation, and improvement of outcome-based education (OBE) academic programmes have led to his appointment as the Programme Quality Assurance Expert (ProQAE) at Universiti Malaya. In this role, he regularly advises and evaluates accreditation for academic programs as the chairperson of the accreditation panel. Dr. Foong Chan Choong is an educationist of great accomplishment, who has dedicated his career to teaching and research. With a passion for interacting with students and teacher trainees, he finds great satisfaction and motivation in his work. Currently, he is involved in teaching the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Physics specialisation) at the Faculty of Education. In addition to his role in medical education / health professions education, Dr. Foong has also ventured into the field of engineering education. He is a lifelong learner, constantly seeking out new knowledge and experiences. His current research is multidisciplinary in nature, spanning the medical, dental and other health professions, engineering, physics and music education. Dr. Foong's research interests are diverse, with many of his publications focusing on educational psychology. To date, he has published more than 70 publications. He holds several editorial positions, including associate editor for the Annals of Medicine (Medical Education section) (WoS Journal Citation Report 2024 Quartile 1), executive editor for the Malaysian Journal of Qualitative Research, and editorial board member for several international journals (WoS Journal Citation Report 2024 Quartile 1). Dr. Foong plays an active role in the academic community. At present, he is the executive treasurer for the Qualitative Research Association Malaysia and also serves as an executive committee member for the Malaysian Association of Education in Medical and Health Sciences (MAEMHS). In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Foong is also an innovator, with several of his projects receiving recognition at the university, national, and international levels. He is also involved in community service, coaching the debate team at his alma mater, a secondary school in Perak. show more »Syed Mohd Jeffri Syed Jaafar merupakan anak kelahiran Temerloh Pahang. Beliau merupakan lulusan cemerlang Sarjana Muda Syariah (Fiqh & Usul) daripada Universiti Malaya pada tahun 2012 di bawah tajaan Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA). Pada tahun 2013, beliau telah ditawarkan menyambung pengajian di peringkat doktor falsafah secara fast track dalam bidang fiqh dan Usul di Universiti yang sama dengan mendapat tajaan Skim Latihan Akademik IPTA (SLAI). Beliau telah berjaya menyelesaikan pengajian dengan GOT “Graduate on Time” di peringkat doktor falsafah pada tahun 2017. Sepanjang pengajian, beliau sempat menimba ilmu di beberapa buah negara luar seperti di Jami’ah Ain Syam, Mesir (2010) dan di Dar Mustafa, Yaman (2014). Antara kepakaran dan bidang yang sedang diterokai oleh beliau adalah usul fiqh, pemikiran hukum, fiqh ibadat, fiqh haji dan umrah serta fiqh kontemporari. Beliau seorang yang aktif di dalam penyelidikan, penulisan, penerbitan dan persidangan baik di peringkat kebangsaan mahupun antarabangsa. show more »Santha Chenayah joined the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Administration in 2001 as a lecturer. She completed her PhD in Economics from Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University, Japan in 2007. She is now an Associate Professor. She was the Head of Economics Department at the Faculty of Economic and Administration from 2019 to 2021. She has 22 years of experience in teaching and 17 of experience in research in the field of macroeconomics, operations research and environmental economics. Her dedication and work excellence has earned her the recognition of the University and she has been awarded the Excellent Service Award in 2016 and 2020 and Excellence Service Certificate in 2003 and 2004. Her article entitled 'Annotated methodological review of Lean Six Sigma' published in International Journal of Lean Six Sigma has been selected by the editorial team as an Outstanding Paper in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards. Santha Chenayah is a consummate researcher and prolific writer. Her numerous works have seen print in both local and international journals. Some of her publications are in journals indexed in ISI such as the Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Science & Pollution Research, Scientia Agricola, The Singapore Economic Review, Asia Pacific Business Review and Cybernetics and Systems. Her research involvement also includes several projects funded by the University such as the High Impact Research (HIR) grant, IIRG grant, UMRG grants, government funded FRGS and TRGS grants and International Agencies, such as Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) under Ministry of Environment, Japan. Her works on environmental issues, which span a large coverage – 3R, recycling solid waste, climate change-, put her in a relatively better position than her contemporaries with the same interests. Santha Chenayah also sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Institutions and Economies (University of Malaya). In relation to this, she is engaged frequently as an ad-hoc reviewer for journal submissions, some of which include reputable journals such as the waste Management Research (WMR), Asia Pacific Business Review (APBR) and many others. Further to her academic pursuits, Santha Chenayah has been a good team player in giving her full cooperation to organize and participate in the activities of the Faculty. She has been involved in several organizing committees for workshops and seminars held by the Faculty. She has supervised to completion 11 students at PhD and 30 Students at Masters level for their research paper and many final year undergraduates for their Graduation Exercise.
