Professor Chong Mei Chan, PhD, is an accomplished nursing academic and leader with over 20 years of expertise in gerontology, maternal-child health, and e-learning innovations. Currently a Professor at the University of Malaya (UM), she holds a BSc in Nursing (UM, 1995), MSc in Community Health (UPM, 2005), and PhD in Nursing (Monash University, 2014). Her research addresses critical public health issues, including Time banking for community-dwelling older adults, Chronic disease management, and nursing education adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond academia, she actively engages in community health promotion and has established international collaborations with institutions in Australia, China, Taiwan, Jordan, Iran, UAE, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. As Head of UM’s Nursing Department (2018–2023), Prof. Chong led transformative initiatives that elevated the program into the QS World Rankings (150–200) and achieved top departmental status in research publications for two consecutive years. Her leadership extends to national policy, having served on the Malaysian Nursing Board, Nursing Council for Higher Education, and the Health White Paper Advisory Council (2022–2023). She also co-authored Malaysia’s strategic roadmap for health workforce development as a member of the Ministry of Health’s Strategic Engagement Group on Health Workforce and Governance. An internationally recognized scholar, Prof. Chong has published 100+ papers (70+ in WoS/ISI journals), authored 6 textbooks, and supervised 66+ postgraduate candidates (40 PhDs graduated). With 2,130+ citations (h-index: 25, Google Scholar), she is a frequent keynote speaker and external examiner for nursing programs across the Asia-Pacific. show more »A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling, Faculty of Education, Dr. Azmawaty Mohamad Nor registered as a licensed counsellor in 2011. Undergone training with the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFD), Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, her research were mostly on at-risk behaviours among adolescents and family. Heavily involved in drugs related research, she has completed : 1. the acceptance of the community towards the enforcement of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (PI – AADK Grant) and 2. the acceptance of the community towards Community Rehabilitation Program Development (CRPD) among former drug addicts (Co-researcher, AADK Grant). At present, she is currently involved in Developing a prevention model for elementary school children (PI-FRGS Grant). Recently, her team has completed developing a psychological inventory for MRSM students under the MARA Grant, three COVID-19 related research and currently developing a psychometric testing on e-learning among students in Malaysia and a psychometric testing on academic leadership. As an active researcher involving in numerous researches, she aspires to tap in the different area to broaden her horizon and enhance her quality of teaching and learning. She has also been invited to speak on issues on mental health and adjustments during the COVID-19 pandemic.
show more »Associate Professor Dr. Lim Ghee Seong graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 2008. He then pursued his Master in Clinical Dentistry, specializing in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, where he graduated with distinction. He has also been awarded the International Training Fellowship (Prosthodontics) from the Royal College of Surgeons (England). His passion for teaching then led him to join the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya and he has since become a valuable lecturer and clinical specialist in prosthodontics in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. He is currently the coordinator for removable prosthodontic undergraduate year 5, a member of the undergraduate module on occlusion and the multidisciplinary team for the TMD clinic. He has previous membership in the British Society for Restorative Dentistry, the Malaysian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry and he is currently a lifetime member of the Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics. Currently, he is also the examiner for the Restorative Specialty Membership Examinations, Royal College of Surgeons, England. He has authored and co-authored handful of both local and international journal articles.
