ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. CHEW FONG PENG

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chew Fong Peng is the Chair for Hub of Language, Innovation and Teaching, Department of Language and Literacy Education, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya (UM). She is a multilingual lecturer and specializes in Malay Studies. She teaches the Malay language education, Chinese language education, and Early Childhood Education. With over two decades of experience in the field, she has presented more than 170 academic papers at national and international conferences across Asia, Europe, and North America, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Greece, Japan, China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Her extensive scholarly contributions include over 150 journal articles, 9 authored books, 67 conference proceedings, 36 book chapters, 10 edited books, and 20 translated works, spanning both academic and creative domains. As a committed editor, she has served as book editor for Taylor & Francis and contributed to national textbook development, notably as editor for Malaysian Year 4–6 History textbooks and Year 1 Art and Music Education. She has led or participated in 19 research projects, 8 of which she served as Principal Investigator. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous academic awards, including the University of Malaya Outstanding Service Award (2008), and multiple inclusions in Marquis Who's Who in the World (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017–2019). She was also honoured with the 2000 Intellectuals of the 21st Century Award (2011) and named The World Outstanding Researcher (2013). In 2011–2012, she was appointed Visiting Professor at Peking University, China. She regularly reviews for internationally indexed journals such as Asia Pacific Education Researcher, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, SAGE Open, Educational Research and Reviews, British Journal of Education, Society & Behavioural Science, and International Journal of Psychology and Counselling, as well as Malaysia-based journals like Pertanika, GEMA Online, and Kemanusiaan. A respected figure in both academic and cultural spheres, Dr. Chew is also known for her public recitations of Malay poetry at state and national events, reflecting her commitment to preserving linguistic heritage. She continues to contribute actively to scholarly research, postgraduate supervision, educational innovation, and international academic exchange.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. SAHARUDDIN BIN MOHAMAD

Dr. Saharuddin bin Mohamad received his Bachelor of Engineering (Bioengineering) in 1998 and Master of Engineering (Bioengineering) in 2000 from the University of Tokushima, Japan. He successfully completed his Doctor of Engineering degree in functional system engineering in 2003 at the same university. Then, he took up a post-doctoral position in bioinformatics at Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan until 2004.  He was appointed as lecturer in Bioinformatics Program, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya ever since. His research interest focuses on structural bioinformatics, with special interest in computer-aided drug design and protein engineering. He also engages in molecular bioinformatics research projects related to analysis and data mining of the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data in genomics, metagenomics, whole-exomic and trancriptomics. Furthermore, he involves in translational bioinformatics research projects with his collaborators from Institute of Medical Research, Malaysia. He actively involves in teaching and development of courses for Bachelor of Science (Bioinformatics) and Master of Bioinformatics at the University of Malaya. He served as Programme Coordinator for Bachelor of Science (Bioinformatics) Degree Program from 2013 to 2014 and re-appointed as the coordinator from 2019 to 2020. He was appointed as Advisory Board Member of MyBioInfoNet (Malaysia Bioinformatics Network) for 2019-2021 session. He was elected as vice president of the Malaysian Society of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (MaSBiC) for 2018-2020 and 2020-2022 session. He was appointed as the Head of Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science from January 2020 to January 2022.  Currently, he serves as the Head of Centre of Research in Systems Biology, Structural, Bioinformatics and Human Digital Imaging (CRYSTAL), University of Malaya since 2017.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NADHRATUL WARDAH BINTI HJ. SALMAN

Nadhratul Wardah Salman graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She then completed a Master's in Sports Policy and a Master of Laws (LL.M). Driven by her curiosity about the dynamic relationship between sports and law, she pursued her Ph.D at Manchester Metropolitan University, focusing on the legal and safety issues surrounding children's sports. Her teaching and research interests include Sports Law, the Law of Torts, Sports Governance and Policy, and Human Rights. She is researching ways to combat match-fixing in sports and is particularly interested in the evolving legal context of the duty of care in sports. Over the past 20 years, Wardah has developed significant leadership skills. She has held various managerial positions, including Deputy Dean, Deputy Director, and Residential College Master. In addition, she has supervised and coordinated over 50 sports events and community engagement projects. Wardah is actively involved in fitness and recreational activities and has competed in numerous sports and martial arts tournaments for approximately 30 years. She represented Universiti Malaya in athletics from 2007 to 2024, with her most notable achievement being named 'UM Sportswoman of the Year' in 2010. She was a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation from 2009 to 2014. She served as a think tank member for the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) from 2012 to 2016. Currently, she is a member of the National Dispute Resolution Chamber for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the term 2022-2025.
