DR. ADIL BIN JOHAN

ADIL Johan is Deputy Executive Director (Academic and Student Affairs) at the Asia-Europe Institute and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya (UM). His research on music and popular culture considers interculturalism, cosmopolitanism, intimacy, affect and gender, focussing on the Malay world and Southeast Asia. He is author of Cosmopolitan Intimacies, a book on Independence-era Malay film music (NUS Press, 2018) and is co-editor of Made in Nusantara: Studies in popular music (Routledge, 2021). He has also published articles in the Journal of Intercultural Studies (2019); Kajian Malaysia (2019); JATI-Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (2022), Indonesia and the Malay World (2023) and Popular Music and Society (2025). He is currently the elected Chair for the Southeast Asian branch for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM-SEA). ADIL Johan ialah Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif (Akademik dan Hal Ehwal Pelajar) di Institut Asia-Eropah dan pensyarah kanan di Fakulti Seni Kreatif, Universiti Malaya (UM). Kajiannya mengenai muzik dan budaya popular mempertimbangkan antara budaya, kosmopolitanisme, keintiman, pengaruh dan jantina, memfokuskan kepada alam Melayu dan Asia Tenggara. Beliau adalah pengarang Cosmopolitan Intimacies, sebuah buku mengenai muzik filem Melayu era Kemerdekaan (NUS Press, 2018) dan merupakan penyunting bersama buku Made in Nusantara: Studies in popular music (Routledge, 2021). Beliau juga telah menerbitkan artikel dalam Journal of Intercultural Studies (2019); Kajian Malaysia (2019); JATI-Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (2022), Indonesia and the Malay World (2023) dan Muzik dan Popular Music and Society (2025). Beliau kini merupakan Pengerusi yang dipilih untuk cawangan Asia Tenggara bagi International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM-SEA).

DR. SATURVEITHAN A/L CHANDIRASEGARAN

Dr. Saturveithan Chandirasegaran is an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at Universiti Malaya, with a comprehensive clinical, academic, and research footprint in the field of spine surgery. He completed MBBS (UM) in 2011, followed by Master of Orthopaedic Surgery (UM) in 2020, where he graduated as the Top Student of Universiti Malaya. He subsequently pursued subspecialty training through Fellowship in Spine Surgery at UMMC (Malaysia) and the National University Hospital (Singapore), gaining expertise in complex spine disorders and advanced surgical techniques. He is an active contributor to the regional spine community and a committed member of several professional bodies, including AO Spine, Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS) as a Life Member, Malaysian Spine Society (MSS), and the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA). He has received multiple international awards in recognition of his clinical research in spine surgery. His recent accolades include the English Presentation Award Gold Prize 2025 from the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research, as well as the Presidential Best Research Award at the International Malaysian Spine Society Scientific Congress for 2 consecutive years, 2023 and 2024. He has been regularly invited as a speaker at major scientific meetings, including the AO Spine Asia Pacific International Spine Conference. As an academician, Dr. Saturveithan has authored over 15 publications in leading ISI-indexed spine journals and continues to be actively involved in clinical and translational spine research.

DR. NOFOUZ N. M. MAFARJA

Nofouz Mafarja (Ph.D.) is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya. Her research focuses on physics education, scaffolding in education, collaborative learning (Reciprocal teaching strategy), word problem solving in physics, critical thinking skills, STEM Education, academic self-concept, attitude learning physics, reading comprehension in science, and Research Methodology. She is presently involved in several research projects on industrial revolution 4.0, teaching innovation, learning support, virtual reality, Hybrid Learning System PjBL Model, society 5.0, critical thinking skill, Generative AI tools and teaching practices. she had experience on teaching sciences, curriculum development, educational technology, tutoring, educational leadership, science and teacher training.
