Chee Seng is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Currently, he is leading a research team that specializes in computer vision and machine learning; where his team has published more than 100 papers in top peer-review [i.e. CCF A or CORE A*/A] conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, IJCAI, etc) and journals (TPAMI, TIP, TMM etc). From 2020-2022, he was seconded to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) as the Undersecretary for the Division of Data Strategic and Foresight, as well as the Lead of the PICC Unit under COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF). Scholarly, he received Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) in 2022, Young Scientists Network Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) in 2015 and Hitachi Research Fellowship in 2013. Besides that, he is also a senior member of IEEE, Professional Engineer (BEM) and Chartered Engineer (IET). To date, he has secured more than RM 3M research funding as the Principal Investigator from local and international bodies.
show more »Norjihan is currently a Senior Lecturer in Department of Information System, FCSIT, Universiti Malaya. She started working at UM as a lecturer since November 2002 and become a senior lecturer in 2015. Her PhD in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2013), and her Master in Information Technology (2000) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and she obtained her Bachelor Degree in Information Technolgy from Universiti Utara Malaysia (2000). Currently, she is the Head of Department for Information Systems since 7 October 2019. Her research interest is in the areas of information security which she focuses more on information privacy, data security, data protection. Norjihan managed to secure various research grants from internal and external funds as Principal Investigator, and also a co-researcher for grants. She was actively involved in the curriculum development which was appointed as Programme Coordinator for Master of Information Technology Management and involved in many programme development at the faculty level. Apart from this, she also involved being a panel interviewer for Hadiah Latihan Persekutuan and Biasiswa Yang di Pertuan Agong.
show more »Dr. Azimah Omar received her B.Eng. degree in Electrical & Electronics and M.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). 2017 she completed her Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics & Systems Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UM, and seconded to the Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) University of Malaya Power Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UMPEDAC). Her research interests include solar photovoltaic systems & technologies, nanomaterials & nanotechnology, solar cell modelling & optimization, and solar cell fabrication, characterization & analysis. She is also involved in solar PV module testing for industries using Electroluminescence equipment. In April 2025, the Electroluminescence Testing Lab successfully demonstrated its technical competence to operate in accordance with MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (ISO/IEC 17025:2017). She is also an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, and a Graduate Engineer of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). In December 2024, she was appointed as a Counselor for the IEEE UM Student Branch, where the team will be organizing the SCOReD2025 conference in November 2025. In January 2020, she was selected to join the DAAD DIES ProGRANT Proposal Writing for Research Grants in Malaysia (Remote Seminar) organized by the University of Cologne, Germany. After completing three-section courses, she is officially in the DAAD DIES ProGRANT Alumni Community. In December 2024, in collaboration with Professor Takashi Sagawa (Kyoto University), their research work was selected to join the Leadership Exchange Course (FY2024, JST NEXUS program), sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and organized by Kyoto University, Japan. She recently had 674 total citations and a 12 h-index and 850 total citations, 15 h-index based on SCOPUS and Google, respectively. She is also an active and recognized Reviewer for the Journal of Materials Research, Heliyon Elsevier Journal, Nanotechnology Journal (IOP Publishing), and Materials Chemistry & Physics Elsevier Journal.
