Prof. Datin Ir. Dr. Bushroa started her career in 2004 as an academician at the Department of Engineering Design and Manufacture, Universiti Malaya (UM). In the following years, she became a senior lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UM. She earned her B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK, in 1997, and subsequently obtained her Master of Engineering Science and PhD from Universiti Malaya in 2004 and 2012, respectively. She previously served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2020 to 2021. Currently, she is the head of the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing and Material Processing (AMMP), a role she has held for nearly over the three consecutive years. She has been a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, since 2011. In 2015, she pursued her post-doctoral research program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, under a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Shortly thereafter, in mid-2016, she was promoted to Associate Professor. In the same year, she was honoured with Professional Engineer status by the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Her primary expertise is in Surface Engineering, where she became a full professor in 2022. Her research focuses on developing thin films and coating layers to optimize and enhance material properties for various applications. She also applies her expertise to the design of systems using plasma-based technologies, such as novel powder magnetron sputtering, cold plasma for water-pathogen treatment, and plasma electrolytic oxidation setups. In addition to her engineering research, she is passionate about preserving cultural heritage and is involved in projects employing computer vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze artifacts collected from museums. Prof. Bushroa has authored and co-authored more than 100 publications, with an H-index exceeding 30. Over the years, she has received numerous awards and medals and secured significant local and international research fundings. These achievements reflect her dedication to impactful education and research at both the national and global levels.
show more »Mohd Shahrul Nizam Mohd Danuri is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Malaya (UM). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master's Degree in Intellectual Property from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and a Doctorate in Philosophy of Information Management (Research) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He is a registered Professional Technologist and one of the members of the Technology and Technical Accreditation Council (TTAC) assessment panel under the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). He is a grant panel evaluator for the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) fund (TED1, TED2, SRF, etc.). He is also the coordinator of the Master Degree in Data Science program and Head of Technovations, UM Innovation's Business Pod at the faculty. His expertise is in Information Systems, System Development, Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), and ICT applications in Agriculture, including Precision Agriculture. He has over 14 years of experience in the ICT and Telecommunication industry, including five years in applied research and technology in the agriculture industry.
show more »Dr. Mumtaz Begum Peer Mustafa received the BSc. and MSc. in Software Engineering from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and University Malaya (UM) in 2002 and 2006 respectively, and the Ph.D. in Computer Science from University Malaya (UM) in 2012. She was a researcher for a High Impact Research project in the area of Assistive technologies for speech-impaired individuals. Dr. Mumtaz is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Software Engineering, University Malaya. Her research interests include Speech Enhancement methods for Automatic Speech Recognition systems, Speech Processing, Big Data Applications and Technologies and Speech Assistive tools for disabled individuals. She has published her work in many of prestigious international speech conferences and journals. Dr. Mumtaz is also a certified software tester from Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB), a member of International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) and Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) from Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB), a member of International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB).
