Biography | |
Prof Datin Ir Dr Bushroa started her career in 2004 as an academician at the Dept of Engineering Design and Manufacture, Universiti Malaya (UM). In a few following years, she became a senior lecture in the Dept of Mechanical Engineering, UM. She graduated her B. Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK in 1997; Master of Engineering Science as well as PhD from Universiti Malaya in 2004 and 2012, respectively. She was previously the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering that served in between 2020 to 2021. As it stands now, she is the head of the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing and Material Processing (AMMP) who has served for almost three consecutive years. She has been a Chartered Engineer, IET, UK since 2011. In 2015, she pursued her post-doctoral research program in University of California, Los Angeles, USA with a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Soon after that, in the middle of 2016, she was promoted as Associate Professor. Opportunely, in the same year, she was honoured with a status of Professional Engineer by the Board of Engineer Malaysia. Her major expertise is in Surface Engineering, in which she is the full professor in this area since 2022 with a focus of developing thin and coating layer for optimization and improved properties for various applications. She also explores her savvy to design system with plasma-based technology such as novel powder magnetron sputtering, cold plasma for water-pathogen treatment and plasma electrolytic oxidation setup. She is passionate in preserving cultural heritage and involved in computer vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in analysing samples such as artefacts collected in the museum. She is the author and co-author of more than 100 publications with H-index reaches above 30. Thus far, she has secured several awards and medals, not to mention significant local and international funds. These justify her passion in education and research that are impactful to the nation and global.
