Prof. Datin Ir Dr Bushroa is an accomplished educator and researcher with over 20 years of teaching experience across Surface Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Communication and Critical Thinking, Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She earned her B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK, in 1997. She completed her Master of Engineering Science at Universiti Malaya (UM) in 2004, undertaking collaborative research with Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan, and obtained her PhD from UM, Malaysia in 2012. She pursued post-doctoral research at UCLA, USA under a prestigious scholarship from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. A Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) since 2011, she is also a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia since 2016. She has held leadership roles as Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and previously served as President of SUKMANITA at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. As an active member of the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing and Material Processing (AMMP), she has led the group for several years. Her research achievements include numerous registered Intellectual Property Rights, notably a unique magnetron sputtering system utilizing powder mixtures. Her core expertise lies in Surface Engineering; developing and optimizing thin films and coatings of nitrides, carbides, ceramics, metals, and rare earth materials for diverse applications. She also specializes in designing plasma-based systems, including innovative powder magnetron sputtering, cold plasma for water pathogen treatment, and plasma electrolytic oxidation. Integrating emerging technologies, she explores applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for manufacturing process optimization, sustainability, and cultural heritage preservation. With over 100 publications and an H-index exceeding 30, she has received multiple awards, medals, and significant research funding as evidence of her commitment to impactful education and innovative research on national and international stages. Prof. Datin Ir Dr Bushroa remains committed to advancing engineering knowledge and industry innovation through her research, leadership, and mentorship. |
