PROFESSOR IR. DR. ROZITA BINTI YUSOFF

Dr. Rozita Yusoff is currently the Deputy Director, University of Malaya Academic Strategic Planning Centre (ASP Centre) and Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya. She obtained her first degree in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Nova Scotia, Canada (1992). Both her Master degree (1996) and PhD Degree (2005) were obtained from UMIST, United Kingdom. She started working in University Malaya as a tutor in 1992, and then was appointed to lecturer in 1996 after completing her Master degree. She is an established academician who has more than 20 years teaching experience. Her research interest are mainly in the area of separation processes (microwave-assisted extraction of active ingredient from herbal plant, CO2 absorption by alkanolamines and ionic liquids), advanced material processing using microwave heating and cleaner production/technology. She has to-date published more than 60 papers in journals and conference proceedings both locally and internationally. Seven PhD and three Master students had completed their degrees under her supervision and currently she is supervising eight PhD students and two Master students.  Dr Rozita is also involved in a number of consultancy projects, especially in the area of cleaner production. On the administrative matters, Dr Rozita was the department OBE/EAC/MQA coordinator from 2005 to 2011. She was involved in restructuring the Chemical Engineering Programme according to OBE approach. She was also responsible to conduct various workshops to the staff on the OBE systems and accreditation.

DR. TEO CHEE HOW

Dr. Teo Chee How received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Leicester, the United Kingdom where his research was focusing on the distribution and diversity of repetitive DNAs in the Musa genome. He was involved in the development of retrotransposon-based molecular markers for Musa species identification. During his stays at the University of Leicester, he was involved in the fifth EU framework programme where, together with other partners in the framework, he developed universal tools to isolate pararetroviruses (EPRVs) and investigate the biodiversity of EPRV sequences. In addition, he successfully established a plant artificial minichromosome platform for crop improvement purposes during his post-doctorate period at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), Gatersleben, Germany. In 2012 he returned to Malaysia to work at Agro-Biotechnology Institute (ABI) under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) as a Senior Research Officer before joining academic as Senior Lecturer at Taylor’s University in 2014. He joined the Centre for Research in Biotechnology for Agriculture (CEBAR), the University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer in 2016.

PROF. DR. GOH KIM LENG

Kim-Leng Goh is appointed as Honorary Professor at the Department of Economics and Applied Statistics, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Malaya after his retirement from his professorial position at the same department. He received his degrees of Bachelor of Economics (Statistics) and Master of Economics from the University of Malaya, and PhD from Monash University (Australia). During his service, he held various academic administrative positions. He was the Deputy Dean of Higher Degree of FEA from September 2016-January 2018, and he held the same position from 2007-2012. He was the Head of Department of Applied Statistics, FEA from 2006-2007 and in 2020. From 2013-2016, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Global Planning & Strategy Centre under the Chancellery to assist the university in strategic planning and world university rankings. He served as the Editor of Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies (indexed in Scopus and ESCI) for about 20 years. He is an Advisor to the Capital Markets Review, and an editorial board member of the International Journal of Services, Economics and Management. He was also an editorial board member of the International Journal of Modelling in Operations Management. His areas of expertise include econometrics, financial econometrics, modeling and applied finance. He has published about 90 papers in refereed academic journals. He is currently supervising 5 PhD candidates, and more than 20 PhD candidates under his supervision have completed their studies.
