Associate Professor Dr. Sr Zuraini Md Ali is an academic and practitioner in the Built Environment, specialising in heritage building conservation and building surveying. She began her career as an Assistant Architect before joining academia in 1992, driven by a strong commitment to teaching, research, and the advancement of conservation practice.

She is among the pioneering academics who contributed to the establishment of the Department of Building Surveying at both UiTM and the University of Malaya, where she has served since 1998. Her teaching areas include Building Measurement, Analysis, and Conservation Studies, often enriched through field-based and experiential learning approaches.

Dr. Zuraini has been actively involved in significant heritage conservation projects, including Istana Balai Besar (Kedah) (1999-2001), Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya (2002-2004) and Taman Sejarah Kusta Negara, Sungai Buloh Phase 1 (2012-2014), Conservation Management plans for Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad (2024-25) and Resident and District Office, Miri, Sarawak (2025-26). Her book title Mubin Sheppard: Pioneering Works in Architectural Conservation in Malaysia won University of Malaya Excellent Award in 2017, The National Book Award 2020-2021(Scholarly Writing Category: Built Environment) and The 14th National Academic Award (Book Publication) in 2022.She has also served as a jury member for book publication category for the Anugerah Akademik Negara (AAN) since 2023, reflecting her standing in the academic community.

She is professionally affiliated with organisations such as the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (MRISM), ICOMOS Malaysia, and is a registered conservator with the Department of National Heritage. Her work reflects a strong commitment to heritage advocacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the nurturing of future professionals, contributing meaningfully to both academia and the broader community.
