Biography | |
Dr Shamsul joined Universiti Malaya as an academic lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine in mid 2015. Prior to that, he worked closely on molecular research pertaining to liver diseases such non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and drug-induced liver injury during his two years of postdoctoral at the same department. He serves as the department's Head of the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory, the postgraduate students' academic advisor, and a member of the faculty's Postgraduates Committee. He is also a contributing associate editor for the Malaysian Applied Biology Journal and an active associate member of the South East Asian Pharmacogenomics Network (SEAPharm). He is currently supervising two PhD candidates and has graduated two PhD and four master's degree graduates. He holds three MOUs with Institute for Medical Research (IMR) for various projects. His research interest is in pharmacogenomics and genomics with over 40 publications. His research focuses mainly on severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs), antituberculosis drug-induced liver injury (AT-DILI), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). |
