Biography | |
Dr. Mohammed Alshawsh is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University, VIC, Australia and an Honorary Fellow at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MRCI), VIC, Australia. He obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in 2012 and then joined the Department of Pharmacology, University of Malaya in 2013 after completing his one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution. His research interests are focused on pharmacological investigations of flavonoids, polyphenols, and probiotics in the management of colorectal cancer, obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver diseases as well as investigating the underlying molecular mechanisms of actions and signalling pathways. He has extensive experience in the areas of systematic review and meta-analysis, microbiome, metagenomics, and toxicity testing including acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity, genotoxicity, teratogenicity and postnatal developmental toxicity. Dr. Alshawsh serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal "BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies". He has supervised 14 PhD and 6 Master’s students to completion and is currently supervising 4 PhD students. He has published over 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 25 and has given over 30 invited and plenary lectures at international conferences. In addition, he has facilitated more than 20 national and international workshops and has obtained several research grants, including UMRG, BKS, PPP, PRGS and FRGS. Dr. Mohammed was recognized among the Top 2% of Scientists in Stanford’s Global 2024 List in the Medicinal and Biomolecular Chemistry subfield. |
