Lik-Voon Kiew obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biopolymer Technology and Therapeutics from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. His current research interests are in the development of nano-sized complexes and particles for (i) anticancer and organ-selective drug delivery and therapy, (ii) bio-sensing / medical diagnosis purposes. He also evaluates synthetic and bioactive compounds/materials for toxicity, physiology impact and disease treatment efficacy. He also assesses the acute and chronic impacts of intravenous administration of nano-drug-carriers and nanotherapeutics to the cardiovascular physiology of rats using radio-telemetry techniques.
Kiew is currently an Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of the College of Biological Science & Technology, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (2020 - present). He has graduated 10 PhD students and 4 MSc students, and is currently supervising 3 PhD students and 6 MSc students. He has also been appointed as the Acting Head for the Department for Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, UM (2021), a Visiting Associate Professor of National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (2020), an external examiner (Pharmacology) for the (i) Second Professional Examination 2020/2021, Bachelor of Dentistry, National University of Malaysia (UKM), (ii) Second Professional Examination 2019/2020, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Penang International Dental College (PIDC)-MASHA University, Malaysia, (iii) Pre-Clinical Professional Examination 2019, Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, Quest International University Perak, Malaysia; and an internal examiner for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program and the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/UMMP) program, University of Malaya, Malaysia.
