Dr. Siti Munirah stands at the forefront of change as a lecturer in the Department of Social Administration and Justice at Universiti Malaya. With profound expertise in social advocacy, she goes beyond the classroom, actively engaging with civil society, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), charitable organisations, faith-based organisations, and research organisations. Driven by a passion for societal well-being, she focuses on creating awareness on crucial social issues affecting the lives of older adults. Her research interest on exploring diverse social advocacy strategies that reach and uplift vulnerable groups on a wide scale.
show more »Dr. Noor Hayaty obtained her BDS (Malaya), MSc in Conservative Dentistry (London), and PhD in Dental Materials (Newcastle) in 1984, 1987, and 1995, respectively. With over 35 years of experience, her career spans clinical practice, academic leadership, research, and higher education management at both national and international levels. She is currently a Contract Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya. She previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (April 2020–April 2022), and as Director of the National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan) Overseas Hub in Malaysia (2020–2023), reflecting her active engagement in international academic collaboration. Prior to this, she served Universiti Malaya for over three decades, holding key leadership roles including Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Deputy Dean (Development; Research and Innovation). In 2013, she was appointed Dean of the Health and Well-being Research Cluster, where she led interdisciplinary research initiatives across the university until her retirement in January 2020. Her leadership contributed significantly to advancing collaborative research, innovation, and academic development. At the international level, she has played a prominent role in advancing dental research through the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Southeast Asian Division, where she served as Secretary, President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President. Through the IADR Regional Development Program, she contributed to strengthening research capacity and collaboration across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Her research interests include biomaterials, prosthodontics, regenerative medicine, and dental education. She is also deeply committed to educational scholarship, with particular focus on clinical competency development, reflective teaching, and asssessment including open book examination in dental education. Dr. Noor Hayaty has contributed extensively to curriculum development and academic quality assurance. She was a member of the curriculum review and steering committees for the implementation of an integrated dental curriculum at Universiti Malaya. She is also an experienced panel member for the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in accrediting undergraduate and postgraduate dental programmes. At the national level, she has served as Chairman of the Prosthodontics Specialty Training Programme and as a Council Member of the Malaysian Dental Council (2018–2019). She currently continues to contribute to national professional standards as a member of the Dental Professional Qualifying Examination Committee and the Dental Specialists Evaluation Committee of the Malaysian Dental Council.
show more »Dr. Syed Bahari Ramadzan Bin Syed Adnan is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Physics Department, Faculty of Science. He completed his Ph.D. in the subject of Material Science. His research is dedicated to advancing inorganic materials for energy storage applications. He specializes in ceramic electrolytes and electrodes for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and magnesium-ion batteries, with a particular focus on sustainable materials. His research has garnered significant attention, evidenced by over 556 citations, an h-index of 14, and an i10-index of 24 on Google Scholar (as of 2024). This impact is further solidified by a publication record of 39 research papers, a granted research patent (A method for synthesizing nano ionic sodium zinc silicate"), and the successful acquisition of six research grants (as Principal Investigator) from Universiti Malaya (RU grants) and the Malaysian government (FRGS). Notably, his research on developing a clay-based battery electrolyte also received media coverage in 2023, highlighting its public significance. He has also excelled in research competitions, securing two gold medals in the Material Technology Challenge 7.0 and Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition in 2022, and a bronze medal in the Invention, Innovation, and Design Exposition (iiDeX) in 2015 and 2022. Beyond research, he has been actively involved in the society and academic community, serving in roles such as Committee Member in Institute Fizik Malaysia, Member of Malaysian Solid-State Science and Technology as well as in the National STEM Association and Associated Chief Editor in an international STEM journal.His leadership experience, including serving as Deputy Director (Research and Development,2017-2022) and Acting Director in PASUM (2018), as well as participation in numerous department and faculty committees, demonstrates his contributions to the university and the broader community. This engagement, combined with awards like the Excellence Service Award in 2018 and 2021, attest to the recognition of his contributions. Moreover, his involvement in local and international collaborations as well as industry attachments demonstrates his ability to secure external funding and potential for future research excellence.
