Ar. Dr. Hazrina Haja Bava Mohidin is a registered professional architect and senior lecturer at Universiti Malaya, with core expertise in architectural design, spatial analysis, housing studies, heritage, and urban design. She has worked in academia for 10 years upon her graduation in 2015. Since joining the Department of Architecture at Universiti Malaya in 2018, she has demonstrated strong leadership and academic service, including her appointment as the Program Coordinator for the Master of Architecture, where she led curriculum development and student support initiatives. Her teaching portfolio spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with an emphasis on architectural design studios, architectural history, theory, and master’s and doctoral thesis supervision. Her pedagogical approach integrates critical thinking, cultural context, and real-life application, making her a dedicated and reflective educator. In research, Dr. Hazrina has secured over RM190,000 as Principal Investigator and contributed to multidisciplinary grants as a Co- Researcher. Her projects have addressed key national issues such as improving B40 housing, preserving heritage in Melaka, and designing inclusive educational environments. She has published two books and multiple journal articles, reflecting a growing academic profile. Beyond UM, Dr. Hazrina is an active figure in the wider academic and professional community. She has been invited as a guest lecturer and external assessor for final-year reviews and design studios at prominent institutions including UTM, USM, UPM, UTAR, Taylor’s, USCI, and universities in Indonesia. She has also delivered invited talks at ARCHIDEX and served as a visiting lecturer at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta and Diponegoro University. She was also recently appointed as Technical Advisory Committee (Academic) by School of Architecture and Interior Design, Faculty of Asia Built Environment, Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) and Diploma in Architecture, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in their curriculum and accreditation development process. In recognition of her commitment to teaching, she was recently awarded Fellowship (FHEA) by Advance HE, a UK-based international body that grants professional recognition to university educators. This award, effective from 1st July 2025 (Fellowship reference PR283845), acknowledges her attainment against the Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education. She holds corporate memberships with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM), Pertubukan Akitek Malaysia (PAM), and ICOMOS (Malaysia and International), underscoring her active engagement with the architectural profession. show more »Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly holds the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying from Universiti Teknologi Mara. She attained her Master of Science in Construction Contract Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in the year 2008. She completed her Doctoral degree in Built Environment from Universiti Teknologi Mara in the year 2017 and is now persuading her research interest in construction contract management and professional practice in built environment areas. She worked with the industry for 10 years prior joining Universiti Malaya, as a Quantity Surveyor and Management Representatives at ARR QS Consultancy. Ever since joining UM as a Lecturer in 10th October 2008, Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly received the certificate of Excellent Service by UM in the year 2012. She has produced 2 Master graduates and currently supervising 5 PhDs. She currently holds 26 publications including books, ISI-ranked articles, Scopus-indexed articles, chapters in book, as well as, in refereed international and national journals. She also has presented papers in conferences locally and internationally. In addition, she also won Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for her innovation through research and development in multiple national competitions. One of her innovations through community reserach project had also received Intellectual Properties Copyrights. In terms of research grant, Umi Kalsum Zolkafli has received in total of RM 2,462,813.66 as principal investigator and co-researcher. She is also a reviewer for multiple international journals and conference proceedings. She is also actively involved with Board of Quantity Surveyors of Malaysia (BQSM) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) as organizing committee for several international conferences, seminars and workshop Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly registered as Consultant Quantity Surveyors (CQS) under the Board of Surveyors Malaysia and a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (FRISM). She has served as a main committee of Quantity Surveying Division, RISM for more than 5 years. show more »Professor Andri Andriyana is currently the Director of International Relations Centre (IRC), Universiti Malaya. As the Director, he supports the University efforts for internationalization and global partnerships. He received Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia in 2000. During the period of 2000-2002, he worked as Field Engineer at Halliburton Indonesia where he was involved in a number of oil and gas wells cementing and stimulation projects. His Master’s degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering was obtained from École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique (ENSMA) - Université de Poitiers, France in 2003. Three years later he received Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics with Distinction from École Centrale de Nantes, France. After completing Ph.D., he served as Assistant Professor at École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) Bordeaux and spent two years as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Centre de Mise en Forme des Matériaux (CEMEF), École des Mines de Paris, Sophia Antipolis. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Malaya in 2009 as Senior Lecturer and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and Full Professor in 2016 and 2023 respectively. He has secured approximately USD 5 Million grants (for research, European mobility and capacity building in Higher Education) from public and private sectors. Since 2013, he has been registered as Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK. He was the recipient of the Bourse du Gouvernement Français Scholarship (2002-2003), the Allocation de Recherche Scholarship (2003-2006), the Mahar Schützenberger Prize (2005), the European Interweave Erasmus Mundus Fellowship (2014), UM Sijil Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Award (2011, 2016 and 2020), the Indonesia World Class Professor Fellowship (2017) and UM Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Award 2022. He served as the Head of Master of Materials Engineering Program from 2013-2019 and as the Deputy Dean of Research in the Faculty of Engineering in 2019-2021. His research focuses on mechanical testing, constitutive modeling and finite element simulation of deformation, degradation, fracture, fatigue and failure in materials including solid polymers, elastomers, metal alloys, composites and soft biological tissues.
