ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NORHANIM BINTI ZAKARIA

Dr. Norhanim Zakaria is an Associates Professor in the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. She has held various responsibilities in academic administration including Head of Department and Programme Coordinator for Master of Science in Project Management at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. Her research interest in project management focuses on Life Cycle Cost (LCC).   Dr. Norhanim had involved in quantity surveying-related consultation projects in Malaysia via the Universiti Malaya consultation unit i.e. UPUM Sdn Bhd. Dr. Norhanim has published articles in academic journals, including ISI and Scopus indexed, and books. She also has contributed articles in newsletters and bulletins and presented papers at conferences locally and internationally. She has worked as a Principal Investigator and as a co-researcher for external and internal grants. Dr. Norhanim had also registered 3 intellectual properties (IPR) on research products.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. RUSDI BIN ABD RASHID

Dr. Rusdi Abd. Rashid is a graduate of University Malaya obtaining the degree MBBS in 1998. He continued with a Masters in Psychological Medicine in University of Malaya and completed his master degree in year 2006. He received  addiction training course  in Turning point , Melbourne in year 2007 and Open Medical Institute , Salzberg , Austria in year 2008. Subsequently, he undergo the fellowship program under  the WHO Collaborating Centre in Korea for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Community Mental Health in the same  year. He is currently a senior lecturer in the University of Malaya and  the chief coordinator of the University Malaya Center for Addiction Sciences(UMCAS) and coordinator for substance abuse treatment services, University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). Dr Rusdi has involved with most of pilot addiction treatment program in Malaysia. He is a Clinical Co-investigator and Visiting psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Pengkalan Chepa Prison, Kota Bharu, Malaysia(2008-2009). He is also a clinical Co-investigator, Prison-Community Link Project on Harm Reduction (PICOL-HR or Project HARAPAN) 2009 – present.  He is a Committee members for National Methadone Maintenance Program, Malaysia(2006-present). He is a  Project Coordinator for Spiritual Enhanced Drug Addiction Rehabilitation (SEDAR) Program: Pilot Methadone Project in Ar-Rahman Mosque, Malaysia(2009-present). He is a Committee members and visiting psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Government Drug Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN PERSADA), Malaysia(2010-present) and  a Committee members and visiting Psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Aftercare Centre National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA)-2007-2009.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. N.VAIRAVAN A/L N.V.V.E NARAYANAN

Dr Vairavan Narayanan is the Head of Neurosurgical services in University Malaya Medical Centre and the Head of Internationalisation Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, UM. He is a Professor and Consultant Neurosurgeon in University of Malaya. He did his basic medical degree as well as Masters degree in Surgery in the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He completed his Neurosurgical training in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge in 2012, acquiring the FRCS (Neurosurgery) Fellowship from the Intercollegiate Board of Surgery in UK. He spent a further 6 months in 2012 doing an Honorary Fellowship in Epilepsy in University College London. He was recognised as a Malaysian National Specialist Registry (NSR) gazetted consultant Neurosurgeon in 2013. His clinical interest lies in Neuro Oncology, Epilepsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. He works closely with the adult and paediatric Neurologists in UM and has built up a successful Epilepsy surgery Unit which screens an average of 50 patients a year, of whom about 20 undergo surgery. With his fellow neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists, he also runs a dedicated Neuro Oncology Unit which provides the highest standards of care for brain tumour patients. His research interests include genetic polymorphisms and mutations in primary and secondary brain tumors, traumatic brain injury and its sequeala, innovations in surgery and training. He has numerous publications in these fields. He is also actively involved in academic teaching and supervision of both undergraduate and post graduate Masters and PhD students. Dr Vairavan is a member of various National and International organisations including the Malaysian Medical Association, Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia, Malaysian Society of Neurosciences, General Medical Council of UK and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
