Dr. Khadijah Mohd Khambali @ Hambali, who graduated from the Universiti Malaya (Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degree) is currently the Professor at the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, working in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought. She has been appointed as Director of the Universiti Malaya Centre of Civilisational Dialogue (UMCCD) from September 2024-August 2026. She served as the post of Co-ordinator of the University Co-Curriculum and Elective Section (SKET) and currently known as CITRA, Universiti Malaya (2004-2006), Deputy Director of Centre for Civilisational Dialogue, Universiti Malaya (2006-2007). She was also a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU), Georgetown University, Washington DC from 2001-2002, Research Fellow in Religious Studies Programme, School of Arts History, Classics and Religious Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (March 2008-September 2008) and the Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Leeds in 2013 for a one year. Professor Dr. Khadijah's broad academic and research interests involve Comparative Religion, Religious Studies, Interfaith Dialogue, Mualaf Community, and Islamic Thoughts. She produced over 287 publications including books, chapters in books, articles in refereed journals including WoS and Scopus indexed, conference proceedings that were presented nationally and internationally, and magazines. Professor Dr. Khadijah currently produced more than 51 master students and 27 doctorate students in her fields. In the professional field, she involves in various committees; as a member of the committee on religious issues at the National Security Council of Malaysia (2010-2013), and the member of the Research Committee of the Wasatiyyah Institute Malaysia (2017-2018); and currently, she is a member of the Islamic Religious Council, State of Selangor (MAIS) from 2018 and present; a member of the Selangor State Fatwa Committee from 2018 and present; member of the Selangor State Religious Control committee from 2018-2023 and chief in editor of AL-UMMAH Journal as well as an editorial board of Islamic Journal, Turkey and AFKAR Journal (SCOPUS-Q2). She is also a committee member of the Islamic Media at Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) from 2020 and present, member of Islamic Studies Programme Standard Expert for MQA, academic advisor for local universities, and experts panel for long life learning modules for JAKIM and JAIS; and postgraduate external examiners. Professor Dr. Khadijah also provided affidavits of the Allah sentencing issues for the Attorney General Chambers and the National Security Council as well as for JAKIM. She also contributes to society through her involvement with a number of a non-government organization (NGO) including ALUMNI Academy of Islamic Studies (ALIM).
show more »Dr Nishakanthi Gopalan is a Senior Lecturer at the Medical Humanities and Ethics Unit (MedHEU), a newly established unit within the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (UM). She is a biotechnologist by training with a PhD in research ethics and policy implication particularly looking at stem cell technology. During this time, she published her key findings in several reputable high-impact bioethics journals. Dr Nisha is the former programme coordinator of the Master of Health Research Ethics (MOHRE), a programme developed in collaboration with the Berman Institute of Bioethics, Johns Hopkins University (JHU). Besides teaching in MOHRE, she also provides ethics lectures in other programmes in the faculty. Dr Nisha also contributes as an external member of the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Medical Research Ethics Committee. She is one of the instructors for the Introduction to Health Research Ethics, an online course in FutureLearn. She also facilitates the APRU Health Research Ethics course. Dr Nisha’s research interest includes different aspects of ethics such as bioethics, research and clinical ethics on diverse topics ranging from emerging technologies (such as regenerative medicine, stem cells, and genetic testing), health research, and aesthetic medicine. She is an expert in qualitative research methods such as in depth interviews, focus group discussion (FGD), inductive and deductive analysis, thematic analysis, grounded theory, as well as narrative and scoping reviews. Currently, she is working on the Fogarty International Centre (FIC), NIH bioethics training grant with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) as well as on the ethics of genetic testing among Parkinson’s patients (USMC Care Fund). She is constantly on the look out for collaboration on local /regional / international projects on the various topics involving ethics.
show more »Ahmad Najib bin Abdullah, dilahirkan pada 3 Mac 1966 di Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Mendapat pendidikan awal di Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kubang Kerian ( 1973-1978). Beliau melanjutkan pengajian peringkat menengah di Ma’ahad Muhammadi Kota Bharu ( 1979-1985 ). Seterusnya beliau menyambung pengajian di Universiti Islam Madinah, Arab Saudi dan mendapat Ijazah Sarjana Muda Dakwah dan Usuluddin ( 1989 ), Sarjana Tafsir ( 1994), dan Ijazah Kedoktoran Ph.D Tafsir (1998 ). Sekembali ke tanahair, beliau berkhidmat di Ma’ahad Al-Dakwah Wa Al-Imamah sebelum diserap menjadi Kolej Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra ( KIAS ). Selain memegang jawatan pensyarah, beliau telah diberi kepercayaan menjadi Ketua Jabatan Dakwah dan Ketua Jabatan Usuluddin. Terakhir beliau dilantik menjawat jawatan Timbalan Ketua Eksekutif ( HEP ) KIAS. Pada 1 Januari 2008, beliau bertugas sebagai pensyarah kanan di Akademi Pengajian Islam, Universiti Malaya, cawangan Nilam Puri. Sepanjang perkhidmatan, beliau pernah dilantik menjadi Ahli Jamaah Tashih Tafsir JAKIM, Panel Pakar Aqidah JAKIM, Ahli Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Perlis, Ahli Jama’ah Penulis Majalah PENGASUH, Ahli Jawatankuasa Buku Teks Yayasan Islam Kelantan ( YIK ) dan Ahli Jawatankuasa Penyelidikan dan Membasmi Ajaran Sesat (MAIK ). Di peringkat Universiti Malaya kampus Nilam Puri, beliau telah diberi amanah untuk menjawat beberapa jawatan pentadbiran seperti, Penyelaras Penyelidikan dan Pembangunan ( 2008-2011 ),Penyelaras Program Asasi ( 2011-2012), Timbalan Pengarah UM Nilam Puri ( 2013-2020) dan Penyelaras Penyelidikan dan Penerbitan UMEC, Bachok ( 2021-2024 ).
