Completed Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Science) in 2000 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaya), and my Master of Software Engineering in 2001 at Universiti Malaya. Completed PhD at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, The University of Melbourne in 2011. PhD supervised by: Prof. Alistair Moffat PhD Advisory Committee: Prof. Justin Zobel and Prof. Tim Baldwin. Currently she is a Professor at the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She is also serving as the Director, Centre for Integral Learning. She has also completed her tenure as the Head of Department from Aug 2017 - Sep 2019. She has also served as the Program Leader/Coordinator for Master of Computer Science from Jan 2012 to July 2017. Her research interest is in Information Retrieval Evaluation, Text Retrieval and Heuristics, Data Science, Data Mining and Machine Learning. She has won a couple of Best Paper Awards at International conferences. She actively delivers keynotes and guest lectures at International and National conferences and Research Seminars. She is also very active in having research collaboration with International researchers from well established Universities. Some of the universities she has collaborated with are Hong Kong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (HK), University fo Auckland (NZ), University of Melbourne (Aus), University of Leeds (UK), Alagappa University (India), Amity University (India), Akshaya College of Engineering and Technology (India), Shiraz University (Iran), Mulungushi University (Zambia) and National University of Science and Technology (Pakistan), University of Gunma (Japan). At National level, she is active in the Society of Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (PECAMP) and has been appointed as commitee member (Assistant Secretary). She has also served as the Secratary for the conference (Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management) organized by PECAMP in 2018. Recently in Dec 2020, she served as the General Chair for the virtually and internationally organized SIRKM 2020 (Seminar on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management) She is also the recipient of the competative AUA Scholars Award 2019-2020 - Host Institution is The National University of Singapore (Host Professor CHUA Tat-Seng - https://www.chuatatseng.com/ Sri Devi Ravana is also actively involved in community services. She has served as the Vice Chairman (Women Wings) for the Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM). She is a actively involved in Girl Guides activities locally and internationally. She was also awarded the Queen Guides Award in 1995. At Universiti Malaya she championed the establishment of the Universiti Malaya Girl Guide Movement (Pasukan Pandu Puteri Siswi) in 2020. She currently serves as the Mentor of the Pasukan Pandu Puteri Siswi Universiti Malaya (UM Girl Guides Clovers).
show more »Juwairiah Osman merupakan pensyarah kanan dan ahli akademik dalam bidang linguistik terapan, pembelajaran bahasa, bahasa Melayu untuk penutur antarabangsa, sosiolinguistik dan linguistik am. Pada 2021, beliau menyertai Akademi Pengajian Melayu sebagai felo SLAB dengan iltizam dan semangat untuk menjadi ahli akademik yang dikenali ilmunya. Maka, pengajian doktoret dijalankan dengan begitu mendalam. Pernah mengajar di salah sebuah universiti awam sebagai guru bahasa Melayu kepada penutur asing dan tenaga pengajar kursus kemahiran insaniah. Juga pernah mengajar warga asing profesional yang ingin mempelajari komunikasi bahasa Melayu. Sebelumnya, pernah menjadi penyelidik siswazah atau pembantu pensyarah di UPM serta mengajar di sekolah menengah swasta. Sehubungan itu, telah memenangi pelbagai pertandingan inovasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran sehingga pernah dua kali dinobatkan sebagai tempat kedua terbaik dalam pertandingan inovasi, iaitu kategori bukan teknikal dan kategori inovasi secara individu anjuran institusi pengajian tinggi di Pahang dan Kuala Lumpur. Kini, meneruskan sumbangan sebagai juri pertandingan inovasi peringkat antarabangsa dan kebangsaan. Kini, meneruskan pemantapan dalam pengajaran di peirngkat ijazah sarjana muda, dan mula mengajar calon sarjana. Seterusnya, meneruskan penyelidikan dan penerbitan bagi pengkhususan linguistik. Juwairiah sangat memperhalusi penggunaan bahasa dan unsur linguistik yang berlaku di persekitaran dan masyarakat sekeliling agar masyarakat sentiasa sedar bahawa setiap ayat dan frasa pasti membuahkan hasil dalam bentuk nilai kemanusiaan dan material. Telah menyampaikan puluhan kertas kerja di pelbagai persidangan dalam dan luar negara pada peringkat kebangsaan dan antarabangsa secara bersemuka dan dalam talian sepanjang berkecimpung dalam dunia akademik lebih daripada sepuluh tahun. Merupakan Ahli Majlis Persatuan Linguistik Malaysia. Juga memperoleh Sijil Profesional, iaitu Diploma Penterjemah Profesional dari Persatuan Penterjemah Malaysia. Juwairiah Osman is a senior lecturer and an academic in the fields of applied linguistics, language learning, Malay language for international speakers, sociolinguistics, and general linguistics. In 2021, she joined the Academy of Malay Studies as a SLAB fellow with determination and enthusiasm to become an academic recognized for her expertise. Consequently, she pursued her doctoral studies with great depth and dedication. She has previously taught at a public university as a Malay language teacher for foreign speakers and as an instructor for soft skills courses. She has also taught professional foreign nationals who wished to learn Malay communication. Prior to that, she served as a graduate researcher or teaching assistant at UPM and also taught at a private secondary school. In relation to her contributions, she has won various innovation competitions in teaching and learning, including being awarded second place twice in innovation competitions, namely in the non-technical category and the individual innovation category organized by higher education institutions in Pahang and Kuala Lumpur. Currently, she continues to contribute as a judge in innovation competitions at both international and national levels. At present, she continues to strengthen her teaching at the undergraduate level and has begun teaching master’s candidates. She also continues her research and publications in the field of linguistics. Juwairiah pays close attention to language use and linguistic elements that occur in the surrounding environment and society so that the community remains aware that every sentence and phrase can produce outcomes in the form of humanitarian and material values. Throughout her more than ten years of involvement in academia, she has presented dozens of papers at various conferences both locally and internationally at national and international levels, conducted either face-to-face or online. She is a Council Member of the Malaysian Linguistics Association. She also holds a Professional Certificate, namely the Diploma in Professional Translation from the Malaysian Translators Association.
show more »Sadia Rahman received her doctoral degree in International Relations from National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan in 2022. She pursued her MA from Presidency University and BA from Calcutta University, India. Before joining Universiti Malaya Rahman worked as an Assistant Professor at Atatürk University, Türkiye in 2023. Presently, she is a lecturer at the Department of International and Strategic Studies, with her research interests primarily focusing on International Relations, Global Governance, Human Rights, China Studies (China's domestic/ethnic policies and foreign policy), Cross-Strait Relations (Regional Security Issues) and South Asia. Her academic achievements include receiving prestigious scholarships such as the MOFA Taiwan fellowship and MOE doctoral scholarship from the ROC government. She obtained a grant from the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy for her project on human rights, further highlighting her dedication to impactful research. In 2021, Rahman was awarded the Outstanding Student Award by the ROC government for her exceptional academic accomplishments. In addition to her academic pursuits, Rahman serves as the Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of Interdisciplinary Research, showcasing her active involvement in the scholarly community. She has also been a participant in the XUAR workshop, a European Union funded (EU) project, including presenting her work at several international academic conferences.
