Biography | |
Dr. Mohd Saiful Anwar Mohd Nawawi began his secondary education at Maktab Mahmud, Alor Setar Kedah. He holds a B.Shariah, Master of Science, and PhD from the University of Malaya. Dr. Saiful has also attended short course programs at The World Islamic Science & Education University (WISE University) Jordan (2012), Islamic University of Madinah Saudi Arabia (2013), Summer Course: Science and Religion at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2017), Exchange Staff program at Sakarya University, Türkiye (2020), and Dar Ifta’ Fatwa Course, Egypt (2022). His research interests revolve around Shariah and Science, with a special focus on Islamic Astronomy. He has been involved in policy and fatwa research that has had a significant impact on society, such as the new parameter in determining Subuh prayer times, the crescent imaging technique, and fatwa rulings on the determination of the rate of Two Marhalah, Qaryah, Balad, and the Islamic calendar. Dr. Saiful currently serves as the Chairman of Persatuan Jurufalak Syarie Malaysia (JUFAS) and as an Associate Professor in the Department of Fiqh and Usul at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. Additionally, he serves as an expert panel or committee member for government agencies on Falak/Islamic Astronomy. |
