Dr. Nor Mas Mira Abd Rahman is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) from Universiti Malaya in 2008 and completed her PhD in Physical Chemistry at Universiti Malaya in 2013. She is a polymer chemist specializing in sustainable polymer materials, nanocellulose, and biomass-derived functional materials. Her research focuses on the development of sustainable polymer systems and the valorisation of agricultural and industrial biomass into functional materials for environmental remediation, sustainable packaging, and advanced material applications. Dr. Nor Mas Mira has an active publication record in Web of Science indexed journals, with many contributions appearing in high-impact journals. She has secured multiple research grants and led projects related to nanocrystalline cellulose synthesis and magnetic nanocellulose systems derived from waste biomass. Her teaching and academic contributions include polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, and related laboratory courses. She is actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate research supervision and has contributed to curriculum development and programme coordination within the Department of Chemistry. Beyond academia, Dr. Nor Mas Mira contributes to national sustainability initiatives through her involvement with several technical and advisory working groups, including collaborations with government agencies and standards development bodies related to plastics sustainability and circular economy practices. She is also actively engaged in community outreach programmes that promote waste management, recycling, and science awareness among school students and the public. |
