Dr. Nor Mas Mira Abd Rahman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Universiti Malaya in 2008 and completed her PhD in Physical Chemistry at the same institution in 2013. Her expertise lies in polymer chemistry and sustainable materials, particularly in the development of biomass-derived polymers, nanocellulose, and circular economy materials. Her research focuses on transforming agricultural and industrial waste into functional materials for environmental remediation, sustainable packaging, and advanced materials applications. She has established an active research portfolio with publications in Web of Science indexed journals and has secured multiple competitive research grants, including projects on nanocrystalline cellulose synthesis and functional nanocellulose-based materials. In addition to research, Dr. Nor Mas Mira is actively involved in teaching polymer and physical chemistry courses and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research. She has contributed to curriculum development and programme coordination within the Department of Chemistry. Beyond academia, she contributes to national sustainability initiatives through involvement in technical working groups related to plastics sustainability and circular economy practices, while also participating in science outreach programmes that promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the community.
