Lau Su Kia 刘树佳 (PhD) is currently a Senior Language Lecturer (Grade 14) in the Department of Malaysian Languages and Applied Linguistics, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya (UM).
He serves as the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Chinese Language and Linguistics (BCLL) programme. In addition to teaching courses within the BCLL programme, he also teaches faculty core and elective courses, as well as university elective courses. He has also taught Chinese language courses at the Department of East Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UM. Furthermore, he has taught a course in the master's programme and actively supervises undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. He also serves as a panel member for postgraduate proposal and candidature defences, as well as an examiner for master's dissertations and doctoral theses.
His research interests include Chinese lexicology, corpus linguistics, morphology, syntax, media linguistics, and the teaching of Chinese as a second language. His research has been published in journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, ESCI, and CNKI. In addition to his academic publications, he is a regular contributor to local and international Chinese newspapers and literary magazines.
