Dr. Goh Liang Chye is a fellowship-trained Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgeon and Medical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, with clinical practice at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and UM Specialist Centre (UMSC). He completed his specialty training in ORL-HNS at Universiti Malaya and holds the MRCS from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, in addition to an MBBS from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. He holds dual fellowships: a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine and Sleep Surgery from Singapore General Hospital, and a Head and Neck Fellowship from Universiti Malaya. He has further undergone specialized training and observerships at Stanford University (USA), the University of Pennsylvania (USA), and Kyung Hee University (South Korea).

He serves as Head of the Sleep Division within the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at UMMC, where he has been responsible for developing the institution's sleep apnea services and training multiple residents and fellows in sleep surgery. His subspecialty training in sleep apnea surgery and sleep medicine was undertaken at Singapore General Hospital and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sleep Centre, where he gained exposure to transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and hypoglossal nerve stimulation therapy. He is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and is recognized as an International Sleep Specialist by the World Sleep Society.

Dr. Goh is also a certified da Vinci Xi robotic surgery practitioner and proctor for trainee surgeons, and serves as Head Coordinator of Robotic Surgical Services in Otorhinolaryngology at UMMC. In this capacity, he led the team that established the institution's transoral robotic surgery (TORS) service and its associated training programme for otorhinolaryngologists. He has also coordinated multiple cadaveric workshops, including pioneering international sleep surgery cadaveric workshops held in Malaysia since 2024.

He is the Founder of the Malaysian Multidisciplinary Sleep Conference (MMSC), an annual conference held in collaboration with the Sleep Disorder Society of Malaysia, and served as its Chief Coordinator for the 2025 edition. He currently sits on the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Sleep Disorder Society of Malaysia and is the Chairperson of the Sleep Apnea Special Interest Group under the College of Otorhinolaryngologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. He is also the current Postgraduate Examination Coordinator for the National ORL-HNS Examination 2026. An active international speaker, he has presented at conferences and centres across multiple countries as well as at numerous institutions within Malaysia.

His research and clinical interests span general otorhinolaryngology, sleep-disordered breathing, functional airway surgery, and medical robotics. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in journals including Sleep Medicine, CHEST, the Journal of Robotic Surgery, and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and is co-editor and co-author of the internationally published textbook Sleep Surgery in a Nutshell (Springer Nature, 2026). He holds two national patents and several copyrighted clinical tools, including a mobile-app-based hearing screening device and post-operative documentation systems.

He serves as a reviewer for international journals , and as an internal examiner and undergraduate MBBS examinations at Universiti Malaya. His accolades include the World Sleep Society's Distinguished Activity Award (Honorable Mention, 2023 and 2024), Best Oral Presenter (2026, College of Otorhinolaryngologists–Head and Neck Surgeons, AMM), and Universiti Malaya's Certificate of Excellent Service . He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, and has served as Clinical Director for Special Olympics Malaysia.
